We are currently searching for a Controller to join our team in Bakersfield, CA.
As a Controller you will lead the day-to-day activities of the accounting department providing information, primarily financial in nature, about company activities that will assist management, its owners, and other users in making educated economic decisions regarding the company’s future.
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or related major.
- Certified Public Accountant.
- Minimum 7 years of progressive experience in financial management leadership roles.
- Experience interfacing with external auditors and other external financial professionals (i.e. banks, regulatory authorities).
- Keen analytic, organization, and problem solving skills that allow for strategic data versus simple reporting.
- Works well under pressure, meeting multiple and sometimes conflicting deadlines.
- Highly self-motivated, good reasoning abilities, sound judgment.

- Excellent PC skills --- highly Microsoft Excel proficient.
- Technology savvy with experience selecting and overseeing software installations and managing relationships with software vendors.
- Advanced knowledge of accounting and reporting software --- Famous and Cognos preferred.
- Occasional domestic travel (mainly within California) will be required for visiting other company locations, training, and networking.
- Oversees all accounts, ledgers, and reporting systems ensuring compliance with GAAP and regulatory requirements.
- Maintains internal control, and ensure that there are proper safeguards to protect the assets of the company.
- Establishes and maintains systems and controls that verify the integrity of key systems, processes, and data.
- Prepares and clearly communicates monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements.
- Prepares complementary reports that outline the company’s financial position in the areas of income, expenses, and earnings based on past, present and future operations.
- Consistently analyzes financial data and presents reports in an accurate and timely manner.
- Coordinates annual audit and tax return preparation activities with the company’s external auditors.
- Oversees financial management of foreign operations that include developing financial and budgetary policies and procedures.
- Manages/Directs general accounting, cost accounting, and accounts payable staff for optimal performance --- including staff evaluation, development, mentoring, and training.
- Interfaces with management of all departments to understand respective information needs to monitor performance. Develop new tools and reports as deemed necessary.
- Participates in a wide variety of special projects and compile a wide variety of special reports.
- Responds to the CFO as assigned with accurate and timely work to facilitate his financial needs.
