Job Description: 

Stemilt Growers is a leading tree fruit company based in Wenatchee, Washington. Owned and operated by the Mathison family, Stemilt grows, packs, ships, and markets fresh apples, pears, cherries, peaches, nectarines, and apricots to stores worldwide. We are proud to be a leading organic fruit supplier and the largest sweet cherry shipper in the nation. 

We are currently looking for a Plant Manager in Wenatchee, WA.

Responsibilities of the position include but are not limited to the following:

  • Supervise, train, hire, rotate and/or terminate personnel when needed
  • Constantly look for ways to improve productivity, costs, quality, and morale
  • Train new hires and promote employees in job functions
  • Discipline employees when needed
  • Complete appropriate administrative paperwork
  • Maintain focus on goals and objectives for self and staff
  • Resolve problems as they arise
  • Monitor quality control, production and packing supplies
  • Read packing instructions, delegate work and complete appropriate administrative paperwork
  • Monitor Line Supervisors processes and procedures for accuracy and efficiency.
  • Good communication with logistics, managers, mechanics, and vendors
  • Maintain and develop standard operating procedures, meet production goals
  • Coordinate production, in accordance with policies, principles, and procedures.
  • Develop plans for efficient use of materials, machines, and employees.
  • Reviews production costs and product quality, and modifies production and inventory control programs to maintain and enhance profitable operation of division.
  • Prepares operational schedules and coordinates manufacturing activities to ensure production and quality of products meets specifications.
  • Reviews production and operating reports and resolves operational, manufacturing, and maintenance problems to ensure minimum costs and prevent operational delays.
  • Be an example and advocate of the Stemilt Handbook and Stemilt Safety programs
  • This position can encompass other than the specified duties listed above if necessary.

Education: 
  • 2 years college education or equivalent experience desired

Qualifications: 
  • Must be able to work in cross functional Stemilt teams
  • Knowledge of fruit grade, sizes, varieties, packs, machinery and supplies
  • Ability to train new hires and promote employees in job functions
  • Knowledge of personnel management, hiring procedures and Stemilt policies
  • Strong computer background (Oracle, MS Office, Autoline, Aweta)
  • Excellent verbal and written communication and personnel interactive skills
  • Ability to perform detailed functions and make quick informative decisions during periods of high pressure
  • Completion of Stemilt Growers, LLC. Safety program
  • Ability to develop and work within budget limitations
  • Bilingual (Spanish/English) a plus but not required
  • Knowledge of Food Safety Programs-SQF and HACCP
