Stemilt Growers is a leading tree Fruit Company based in Wenatchee, Washington. Owned and operated by the Mathison family, Stemilt grows, packs, ships, and markets fresh apples, pears, cherries, peaches, nectarines, and apricots to stores worldwide. We are proud to be a leading organic fruit supplier and the largest sweet cherry shipper in the nation.

We are currently looking for an Assistant Regional Farm Manager in Wenatchee, WA.

As the Assistant Regional Farm Manager you are responsible for providing horticultural consultation for all aspects of the Stemilt orchard management. You will assist the Regional Manager with supervising and coordinating activities of workers engaged in cultivating, pruning, spraying, thinning, propping, and harvesting tree crops both directly and through effective delegation with foreman/supervisors.

Requirements: 
  • Bachelor’s degree (BA.) or equivalent related supervisory experience and /or training of at least six years.
  • A Pesticide Applicator’s License
  • Ability to effectively communicate in English, both written and verbally. Bilingual Spanish is a plus
  • Computer Skills: MS office programs.
  • Math Skills: Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.
  • Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees.

Responsibilities & Duties: 
  • Determine and authorize alternative procedures to accommodate variables such as weather conditions, water supply, stage of crop or tree development, and new legislation.
  • Direct and coordinate orchard activities such as orchard development, irrigation, chemical application, worker safety, pruning, thinning, and harvest.
  • Knowledgeable and effective at training employees to use orchard equipment
  • Coordinate orchard equipment maintenance and repair.
  • Develop and implement cost saving measures, contributing to profit and revenue, conserving resources.
  • Prepare written reports and correspondence as needed.
  • Will manage five or more subordinate supervisors who supervise a total of 3 to 500 employees.
  • Oversee direction, coordination, and evaluation of assigned farms.
  • Carry out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the company’s policies and applicable laws.
  • Interpret policy and enforce safety regulations.
  • Interview, hire and train employee.
  • Planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees.
  • Other duties as assigned.
