Process Engineer

Job Description: 

We are a grower-owned walnut processing and marketing facility that values our employees and has a family friendly environment. Our state of the art facility is located in one of the largest walnut producing areas in California. We are located in the Sacramento Valley, just south of Yuba City. Our central location gives our employees the opportunity to live in a variety of locations such as Sacramento, Roseville, and Chico. Our location also allows easy access for travel, whether you want to visit the sierra’s and go camping or fishing or head to the beach and catch some rays, you don’t have to travel far to reach it.

We’re looking for a dedicated, self-starter who’s willing to work hard to join our team as a Process Engineer.

As a Process Engineer you are responsible for ensuring the overall effectiveness and efficiency of our processing equipment and procedures.

Requirements: 
  • Food Technology, Engineering or equivalent bachelor’s degree and food plant experience.
  • Lean Six Sigma, Total Quality Management or similar continuous improvement program experience.
  • Must be inquisitive and hands on.
  • Knowledge of HACCP and GFSI audit programs and sanitary design principles.
  • Experience creating and editing drawings in AutoCAD or similar program.
  • Experience defining problems, collecting data, establishing facts and drawing valid conclusions.
  • Ability to work with diverse workforce

Responsibilities & Duties: 
  • Create and implement design systems and procedures to collect and evaluate data as it relates to the yield and quality of the walnuts during each process. 
  • Develop procedures and process changes to improve performance and conducting process validation and verification tests for each process step. 
  • Participate in plant expansion projects, capital improvement projects and budgeting, as well as investigating and recommending alternate methods of processing, shelf-life studies including making recommendations for packaging materials, storage conditions and processing methods. 
  • Responsible for preventative maintenance programs for assigned processing equipment and providing technical support in developing and updating SOPs.
