Job Description: 

Royal Rose has been growing specialty Italian vegetables in Salinas for over 18 years. Winter growing areas include Georgia and Mexico. Royal Rose sells to salad processors, wholesalers, terminal markets and retailers in the U.S., Canada and Korea. Royal Rose is the category leader in specialty Italian vegetables and is growing rapidly.

We are looking for an experienced FOB Sales Manager to join our team in Salinas, CA and help lead our growth efforts.

As a FOB Sales Manager you are responsible for managing the sales and customer relation functions for all sales of conventional and organic radicchio, frisee and treviso.

Requirements: 
  • Possess a BA/BS degree in agribusiness, business or relevant field.
  • 7+ years of produce sales experience with responsibility for over $20 million in sales.
  • Proven experience selling fresh vegetables to retailers in the U.S. and Canada.
  • Demonstrated success in growing sales and increasing profitability.
  • Must have excellent communication, negotiation and sales skills.
  • Proactive in anticipating and solving problems.
  • Understanding of PACA guidelines and rules for good arrival.
  • Thorough understanding and experience with Famous.
  • Highly proficient in Outlook, Excel, Powerpoint and Word.
  • Ability to develop integrated spreadsheets to forecast sales and balance supply.
  • Prior experience with iTrade and Foodlink.

Responsibilities & Duties: 
  • Drive profitable growth by maximizing price and volume across all markets.
  • Manage daily/weekly supply and demand to clear projected harvest while optimizing profitability.
  • Increase direct sales to retailers with value-added products.
  • Coordinate daily/weekly harvest and packing with Farm Manager and custom harvesting company to ensure timely harvest of product in appropriate carton and quality to meet customer requirements. 
  • Balance supply and demand between east and west growing areas in winter. Coordinate arrivals from Mexico to ensure consistent supply to customers.
  • Develop sales price and volume forecast by commodity by customer for annual plan and update as needed.
  • Managing carton and packaging inventory consistent with production and sales forecasts.
  • Coordinate purchase of outside product to fill customer orders or buy and hold depending upon market trends.
  • Coordinate transportation for deliveries to customers or transfers from other growing areas:
  • Negotiate prices and cooling services to ensure proper handling and cooling for all company products.
  • Trouble-shoot and resolve customer issues with quality to maximize return to grower and customer satisfaction. 
  • Coordinate the consolidation of loads if required by the customer.
  • Handle sales, transportation and documentation for any product sold to international markets.
  • Plan and coordinate participation in all trade shows. Set-up booth and attend show to develop company sales and customer relationships.
