Regional Category Manager: Tropicals/Melons

We are currently searching for Regional Category Managers for our Tropicals and Melons categories in the Tampa/South Florida region.

As a Regional Category Manager, you will be accountable to develop and grow either the Tropicals or Melon categories within the region.  You will help shape the overall direction, supply plan and explain their region’s needs within those categories, as well as the accounts that are represented in the region. This will include being the leader of those categories within their region and the supply service line. You will be the expert in your region on these items and the go-to person on both strategic and tactical issues.

Requirements: 
  • Bachelor’s degree preferred
  • Minimum 3+ years fresh produce experience preferred (in buying and selling roles), with specific experience in either Tropicals or Melons.
  • 3+ years Category management experience at the retail level a plus.
  • Strategic and creative thinking skills.
  • Strong analytical and problem solving skills.
  • Excellent customer/supplier service skills.
  • High degree of knowledge of the Grower/ Shipper side of the industry.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Solid financial acumen.
  • Strong team player.
  • Travel as needed (likely 2-3 days per month).

Responsibilities & Duties: 

Overall Responsibilities

  • Represents the needs of the region within the CIS category while communicating the needs and supply requirements of the category.
  • Works with both the Account Managers and the category Managers to develop category programs that maximizes net revenue opportunities while growing customer penetration and grower/vendor support.
  • Responsible for business development activity at the region both in terms of existing customer penetration and new/new activity.
  • Oversee the day to day management of the category including communication, execution, service levels-both directions, project management, contract proposals, new target quoting, and reporting.

Finance/IT

  • Deliver needs and work on plans for the category in the region.
  • Assist with the budgeting process between the supply teams and the Account Managers.
  • Provide monthly and quarterly result reports related to the category.

Sales/ Account Development

  • Own the regional pipeline both existing and future development for the category.
  • Develop category target plans for top accounts with Account Managers/Category Managers for greater penetration.
  • Own the regional budget and drive sales and supply activity to meet goals.
  • Own daily, promotional, and contract pricing decisions.

Marketing

  • Support and help drive company branded sales programs.
  • Focus on innovation within the category by establishing a truly differentiated through packaging and varietals; offering to match the market and customer needs.

Grower/ Supply

  • Communicate value needs of the regions to Category Managers to help develop supply chains to grow sales while providing profitable returns to grower/vendor network.
  • Manage and develop local, regional, or customer specific supply chains in coordination with Category Managers and Category General Manager.
  • Communicate local and regional programs to other RCMs for additional sales opportunities.

Network/ Region/Branches

  • Consistently provide education to all internal sales and account managers throughout the region.

Industry

  • Be a positive role model for Robinson Fresh within the category in the broader industry.
