Manager, Produce Supply Group

Job Description: 

We are currently looking for a Manager, Produce Supply Group in Tampa, FL!

You will be responsible for the management and direction of the region’s Produce Supply Group, as well as for the financial, sales, and people management decisions specific to the produce supply segment of the business across the region.  You’ll also collaborate with leadership within the region to set and guide the overall vision and direction of produce supply within the region.

Requirements: 
  • Bachelor’s degree and/or equivalent experience
  • 5+ years produce supply experience
  • Minimum 1 year direct people management experience
  • Able to assess and understand market opportunities and trends, and how market conditions impact business performance and financials
  • Able to cultivate relationships with both internal partners and key external partners (growers/shippers)
  • Proven experience in growing business
  • Ability to travel 25% or more

Responsibilities & Duties: 

Financial Management:

  • Responsible for expense management and budgeting
  • Read and interpret Branch/Team Financial reports and accountable for budgeting process; effectively communicate financial trends to direct reports and overall team
  • Promote both growth and efficiency within the Supply team; responsible for achieving or exceeding planned net revenue, order count and efficiency metrics
  • Responsible for developing and implementing processes that will reduce financial risk within the business

Business Management:

  • Responsible to lead business planning for supply team
  • Organize, plan, coordinate and collaborate with others on all phases of team’s operations
  • Utilize company systems to manage business processes
  • Prioritize and delegate work
  • Work with the region’s Managers and Network to identify new growth opportunities
  • Accountable for SOP maintenance and development for the region

People Management:

  • Staff management for regional Supply team
  • Manage performance reviews: employees goals, objectives and accountabilities
  • Coach and give feedback, team building, leading change and delegation
  • Manage the Talent Planning process and ensure all employees are involved in a development and succession planning process
  • Direct hire/fire responsibilities
  • Understand and communicate company compensation philosophy and process, utilizing the company systems
  • Decision making responsibility for compensation of direct reports

Supply:

  • Collaborate with category managers to support vision of vertically integrated supply chains
  • Set the overall regional Supply strategy and expectations of Supplier management and sales
  • Ensure the Supply team strategy and execution supports the overall vision of the region
  • Regularly engage strategic supplier through score carding and/or annual reviews to create sustainable programs
  • Publish analysis on driver commodities to develop business or educate the team
  • Set volume and margin expectations by ensuring all budgets and business plans are driven by sales innovation and Supplier/customer growth
  • Set standards for daily processes that drive excellence in operations and service
  • Ensure compliance with corporate and Supplier management policies
  • Manage current staffing needs of the regional Supply group while working with the General Manager and corporate talent acquisition to forecast hiring demand
  • Responsible to assure that Supply recruitment and retention strategy is in place and implemented within the business
  • Partner with Account Managers and business development to facilitate pricing requests, RFP’s, and to develop pricing standards and SOPs for new accounts
  • Ensure that buy prices are reset based on certain variables
  • Act as a point of escalation as it pertains to Supplier dispute resolution
  • Grow automation with Suppliers
  • Ensure load coverage of the region meets all best practices and standards for high service
  • Secure and develops Supplier relationships; participates in Supplier development reviews as necessary
  • Supply Chain development
  • Oversee further development of existing supply chains, i.e. Guatemala, Broccoli programs, etc.
  • Identify, vet, and implement new supply chains opportunities, i.e. other potential grower programs that we see value in (Brussels Sprouts, other potential “niche” items, etc.)
  • Responsible for management of CIS categories, pre and post-harvest volumes, etc.
  • Accountable for grower accounting and materials oversight in regional programs/non CIS
  • Collaborate with grower development teams
