Rijk Zwaan USA produces, develops and sells Rijk Zwaan vegetable seed in the United States and Canada. Incorporated in 2000, Rijk Zwaan USA has over 20 employees working hard to get the best genetics to the market. Traditionally strong in spinach, lettuce, melons and brassica crops, Rijk Zwaan USA is diversifying into new developing markets, such as pickling cucumber, greenhouse vegetables, and various other varieties specially designed with the consumer in mind.

We are currently seeking a people-orientated manager to become our next Managing Director of Finance in Salinas, CA.

The Managing Director of Finance will work with the management team in your location. As a team, you will guide our subsidiary in, among other things, strategy, planning, sales, investments and personnel. You will focus on either outdoor crops or greenhouse crops, and business development in chain activities. As a team you are responsible for the whole operation of the subsidiary.

Within this role, you are responsible for the direct management and steering of our growing organization. Your main responsibility will focus on monitoring and controlling all financial and administrative issues. You will analyze business performance and give insight in actual results. You will manage HR activities, such as payroll administration and reviewing HR procedures as part of your responsibility. Legal activities and ICT are also part of the job. You have an important people-orientated role in assuring a well-functioning team. As a part of this team you will be required to travel countrywide and internationally, in addition to managing the daily business in the office.

Requirements:

  • Master’s degree, preferably in the area of Business Economics and Management Studies.
  • Broad and relevant work experience in an international environment.
  • Strong affinity with agriculture.
  • Good analytical skills and are able to communicate well.
  • Have a people-oriented management style and like to coach.
  • You are hands on and like to cooperate and to consult with colleagues for an optimal result.
  • Your management and accounting skills are well developed.
  • You feel comfortable to operate as an entrepreneur within our organization.
  • The dynamic market conditions demand a creative attitude and working method.
