We are currently seeking an IPM Compliance Manager for our Dublin, VA location.
Your main responsibility as an IPM Compliance Manger, is the integrated pest management of the greenhouse and monitoring/ensuring compliance with surveys and certifications.
- 3 years of experience in IPM within high tech vegetable operations
- 1 year of supervisory experience preferred
- Extensive knowledge of pest and disease in commercial vegetable crops
- Extensive knowledge of Good Manufacturing Practices and Health and Safety/Food Safety policies and procedures
Physical Requirements:
- Must not be allergic to or have fear of bees
- Must be able to stand/walk for an extended amount of time
- Must be able to lift 25 lbs
- Must be able to work on a platform at a height of approximately nine feet
- Must be able to work around shellfish products
Working Conditions:
- Ability to work in extreme temperatures (hot in summer, cold in winter)
- Must be available to work some weekends and evenings as required
- Collaborates with Master Grower to implement IPM strategy for the greenhouse
- Coordinates the Food Safety Program and Organic Certification requirements
- Organizes and performs weekly scouting of crops
- Ensures all scouting data is electronically recorded using MS Excel
- Performs analysis of scouting data and executes strategies to align with P&D
- Train, develop and supervise IPM Scouts
- Develop and manage a banker plant system
- Manage the soil media for organic production; collect soil samples; test and report results; receive soil recipes and instruct staff in the proper mixing, manage application of the soil’s top dressing on a daily basis, source and purchase organic fertilizers
- Serves as the liaison between Red Sun Farms and the surrounding college’s Entomology and Pathology Departments
- Utilizes Hortimax for labor tracking and production.
- Ensures employees are clocking in and out of the system, as well as per row and/or per task
- Applies pesticides and/or biological controls to reduce pests on plants as needed
- Sprays appropriate fertilizer on plants as necessary
- Other duties as assigned
- Bachelor’s Degree in Horticulture, Agriculture, Zoology, Entomology or other related field
- Current Pesticide Applicator Certificate (or ability to obtain licensure in VA within the first 90 days of employment)
