Job Description: 

ProducePay is a financing solution that provides farmers, who grow fresh fruits and vegetables with immediate access to liquidity and financing. They connect farmers and produce distributors, while providing access to immediate cash flow to facilitate trade.

Have you ever read any of those stories about this company in the Tech business who are changing the world and how we live our lives and do business? Where does someone in produce, who is a not a technology or Internet guru, going to prosper from this “new economy?” Automated harvesting is amazing, as is ecommerce, but do those get the growers paid faster. As we know, ITS ALL ABOUT THE GROWER. ProducePay has created a successful business that gets growers paid faster.

So who is right for this job? We are not looking for a tech guru, Wall-Street executive or banker. We need produce professional who knows this business and how it works. We are looking for an experienced and creditable produce pro who is comfortable talking with growers and shippers. We need someone who not only knows the business and “gets their boots dirty,” but also has a proven track record of selling and closing deals.

ProducePay is NOT a brand new start-up without a track record. Quite the contrary! They have growers and shippers as clients and their business is growing quickly. The goal for 2017 is extensive growth-that is why we are hiring for this position. They need leadership and a high-level performer in this newly created role. We are looking for a smart, articulate, entrepreneurial person to take this Co. to the next level. This new person will manage the current three salespeople and then drive the team growth by 4X over the next year.

 At the end of the day, we need an experienced produce pro, who has sales and leadership abilities. This is a fast paced growth company, so you’ll have to have the energy to travel and work hard.  The starting base salary is $175,000. Additionally, there is a commission program of 1% of revenues… AND a handsome equity offering TBD. Of course, there are excellent medical benefits too!

 So who is right for this job? We envision someone who is working with growers now, and knows how to close a deal. Perhaps he/she is working with a grower/shipper and deals with both putting together grower deals as well as deals with customers. This could be GM, VP, CEO, COO, or President. The ideal candidate is a proven deal-maker with a great reputation for honesty, integrity and brains.

Bilingual is preferred, but if you have a proven track record of closing deals in Spanish-speaking countries, this would be a benefit to ProducePay. They are already successful south of the border, and there is more business to be developed.

The Details:

The position will report to the CEO, lead our sales team, grow and maintain a customer base, as well as build and maintain effective working relationships in a fast-paced and rapidly growing environment.

The ideal candidate will be results driven, and promote a customer-focused culture in alignment with our company’s values and principles.

Qualifications:

  • College graduate. Graduate degree a plus
  • Must have 8+ years of experience in the produce industry
  • Open to possibility of travel 30-40%
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Preferred Spanish speaking skills, not required
  • Experienced Sales Manager for a mid-size produce company, or a commodity/category for a large    produce company
  • Experience in developing and maintaining a rapidly increasing grower base
  • Someone who can lead 10 sales people and manage on a result-driven focus
  • Knowledge of the Perishable Agricultural Commodities Act (PACA)
  • Able to create and implement sales and growth strategies to keep up with aggressive company targets
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office

Compensation/Salary: 
$175-$200K+ base plus equity & bonus
