We have an immediate opening for a Buyer in Allentown, PA.
As a Buyer you will be responsible for managing assigned produce categories. This includes maintaining adequate stock and quality levels; maintaining vendor compliance with regards to product specifications, food safety, service level and cost.
- College degree preferred
- 2 years procurement experience
- Experience in produce or food service procurement, a plus
- General understanding of produce, distribution and warehousing procedures preferred
- Excellent negotiation, communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills
- Demonstrates initiative
- Strong problem solving skills and attention to detail
- Proven ability to multi-task in a fast paced environment
- Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team
- Must properly handle confidential information
- Proficient computer skills
- Responsible for negotiating pricing and securing product from suppliers
- Conduct logistics planning processes while ordering products to attain the best net product price possible
- Cultivates market contacts to keep abreast of market trends in the industry
- Identify and communicate promotional pricing, opportunity buys and market trends to management
- Complete Purchase Orders
