Quality Assurance Supervisor

Job Description: 

We are currently seeking a Quality Assurance Supervisor in Western Michigan.

Responsible to supervisor and lead quality assurance technicians and ensure proper execution of all procedures to keep the Company compliant with all safety and food regulations, quality standards, and legal requirements.  Responsible for providing effective communications to all levels of the organization (management, transportation, procurement, production maintenance, and production associates) to ensure efficient operations of the facility.  Also responsible for upholding the company’s standard of product quality and integrity.  Acts as a backup for quality assurance technicians when needed.

Responsibilities & Duties: 

Primary Duties:

  • Schedule Quality Technicians’ daily duties
  • Perform monthly food safety audits and provide relevant information to QA Manager for correct action reporting
  • Provide various levels of training to new and existing Quality Technicians
  • Conduct water sampling for review at third party lab
  • Provide regular and annual performance feedback to direct reports
  • Dispositions raw and finished product on hold with Lab Technicians and Procurement and Production Supervisors
  • Ensure timely and accurate completion of required documentation
  • Performs weekly environmental checks
  • Coordinates samples for customers and sales
  • Signs off on QCCP records daily
  • Perform facility audits, update SDS book, and update department SOP books
  • Complete nonconforming product documents and rejections
  • Correct errors in lot numbering and code dates if found after the fact
  • Enter data into the SPC database and produce and review reports timely
  • Perform the required testing of raw product from both storage and incoming raw product deliveries

Secondary Duties:   

  • Orders supplies and equipment repairs for lab
  • Assists in investigations of customer complaint reports
  • Verify receiving paperwork counts, specifications and weights against delivery schedule
  • Complete lab equipment verifications
  • Train others to receive product in
  • Identify and make recommendations for continuous improvements
  • Other duties as assigned
Qualifications: 
  • Bachelor’s degree in a food science or related discipline preferred; OR
  • Two years of relevant QA experience in a manufacturing / food processing environment
  • Knowledge of Food Safety and Quality is required
  • Experience with third party audits
  • HACCP training or knowledge of HACCP preferred
