Peirone offers a complete line of fresh produce as well as organic produce, "dry" produce complements, specialty items, and produce supply items. Produce is sourced direct on Peirone’s trucks from Arizona, California, Florida, Mexico, and Texas.
We are currently seeking a Director of Logistics in Spokane, Washington.
Essential Job Functions:
- P/L accountability for assigned areas of the organization
- Development of annual budgets of assigned areas
- Labor relations/retention/negotiations
- Responsible for development, implementation, measurement and enforcement of warehousing and transportation standards.
- Diligent enforcement of company policies.
- Direct accountability for all safety programs involving personnel, facility and food.
- Responsible for development, monitoring and reporting of key performance metrics for all areas of assigned responsibility.
- Work closely with parent company, URM, to maximize all synergistic opportunities.
- Responsible for ongoing evaluation and negotiation of all equipment lease programs to maximize value to Peirone Produce Company.
- Responsible for ongoing staff development, score carding, development of annual performance objectives and implementation of performance reviews.
Education/Experience:
- Minimum of 5 years Transportation/Warehouse experience in a supply chain environment, preferably perishable foods
- Must have experience in multi department management
- Experience in union environment a plus
- Experience in produce environment a plus
- Over the road trucking experience a plus
- 4 year degree preferred (not required)
Skills Required:
- Proven track record of continuous process improvement
- Must have strong communication skills
- Proficient in excel spreadsheets and comfortable using
- Technology based tools
- Strong negotiation skills
Physical & Mental Abilities:
- Act with sense of urgency to issues
Personal and Professional Attributes:
- Able to manage multiple priorities
- Knowledgeable in areas of food safety and HACCP protocols
