Pacific Coast Fruit Company is a local, family owned produce distributor that has proudly served our Pacific Northwest retail, wholesale and food service customers since 1977. We are now one of the largest independent produce distributors in the Northwest with distribution centers in Portland, Oregon and Seattle, Washington.

Our company is seeking an experienced and creative leader to become the Vice President of Procurement and to guide our team of skilled buyers to the next level. 

The Vice President of Procurement will have overall responsibility for the operational performance of the company’s product sourcing and procurement. Success will be measured through achieving targeted company and management initiatives, and meeting operational and financial benchmarks. 

As the Vice President of Procurement, you must be able to integrate yourself with the existing leadership team, while being a change agent in a growing and entrepreneurial business.

Requirements: 
  • Bachelor’s degree preferred with 10+years professional experience within a successful mid-to-large size organization, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Spanish language skills desired.
  • Familiarity and experience with a wide range of produce items, to include both conventional and organic product.
  • Knowledge of commodity locations, growing and harvesting practices, packing and repacking, and other produce suppliers, distributers and processors.
  • Advanced understanding of how to lead and develop teams by building mutual trust, respect, and cooperation among team members.
  • Excellent communication and relationship building skills and the ability to work effectively with individuals at all levels of the organization.
  • Proficiency in MS Office products, with emphasis in Excel.
  • Proven business acumen.
  • Demonstrated skill identifying and resolving problems in a timely manner.
  • Cultural leadership that builds, leads, and mentors teams.
  • Superior ability to prioritize and plan work activities; set goals and objectives; and develops realistic action plans.
  • Includes appropriate people in decision making process and asks for help when needed.

Responsibilities & Duties: 
  • Provide strategic direction to procurement team including: prioritizing activity, goal setting, program development, and communication.
  • Recommend and establish strategic sourcing programs specific to customer needs and expectations.
  • Explore sourcing alternatives and new products.
  • Communicate consistently and effectively with internal and external partners to develop and maintain programs.
  • Work closely with the team to ensure we are obtaining the right products, at the best quality available, and at the best cost.
  • Partner with sales and service managers to support new product/new customer sales.
  • Act as a liaison to PCF’s customers and other departments within PCF.
  • Provide guidance and direction to staff, including setting performance standards and monitoring and evaluating performance.
