Pacific Coast Fruit Company is a local, family owned produce distributor that has proudly served our Pacific Northwest retail, wholesale and food service customers since 1977. We are now one of the largest independent produce distributors in the Northwest with distribution centers in Portland, Oregon and Seattle, Washington.
Pacific Coast Fruit Company is currently seeking a Banana Ripener for our Seattle, Washington location.
This position is responsible for managing and overseeing all aspects of our warehouse ripening program to ensure we meet our customer’s ripening requirements and expectations.
Responsibilities:
- Manage all activities related to banana handling and ripening, including conducting quality inspections, development of ripening cycles, actual ripening, and post ripening handling
- Sort and grade product in accordance with color/ripeness chart
- Work closely with procurement and sales departments to project sales and manage inventory
- Coordinate delivery schedules to maintain adequate inventory and ripening schedules
- Manage inventory on a daily and weekly basis
Qualifications and Experience:
- Minimum 1 to 2 years experience in quality and banana ripening processes
- Excellent communication and relationship building skills and the ability to work effectively with individuals at all levels of the organization
- Good judgment and the awareness of financial impact of decisions
- Candidate must be organized, and be able to work well in groups and one on one with end users either in person or over the phone.
- Must be able to work a flexible schedule including some weekends and holidays based on the needs of our business
