Job Description:
This is individual provides technical support for the application of Pace’s post harvest fruit treatments to Pace’s customers in the US South region, based out of Pace’s office in Visalia, CA.
Principal Responsibilities:
- Directly support Packers by monitoring fruit processing and conditioning lines
- Monitor and optimize fungicide, cleaner and coatings applications in packing houses
- Perform routine verification of packing house sanitation practices for prevention of postharvest decay
- Implement trials for development of emerging Pace products as well as current products
- Write reports on trials and packing house monitoring programs
- Review current and proposed industry practices
- Maintain positive relationships with Pace employees, customers and other contacts
- Occasional overnight travel and early morning or late evening hours.
- Ability to drive 30,000-40,000 miles per year in a company vehicle.
- In addition to other duties as assigned by Technical Service Manager
Position Reports to: Manager Tech Services
Typical Experience/Education Guidelines:
- Minimum BS degree in horticulture, botany, plant science, biology, plant pathology or related field.
- Experience with tree fruit production, postharvest quality control and /or field agriculture desirable
- Computer literate including Microsoft Word and Excel
- Outstanding people skills, you will have significant interaction with customers
- Mechanical aptitude for light application equipment
- Clean driving record mandatory
- Good writing skills
- Spanish language skills are a plus
