Farm Operations Manager

Job Description:

We are currently looking for a year round and experienced Farm Operations Manager to join our team in Brawley, California. This individual will be trained for all farm operations as well as organic growing practices.  They will work hand in hand on all operations and expect several years to pass before the descriptions above shall be handled fully by the employee. 

Responsibilities & Duties:

  • Oversee farming operations for organic produce and forage crops in the Imperial Valley and other southern states regions. 
  • Coordinate with grower/owner and farm operations leads to create crop plans that include tractor work schedules, planting schedules, input sourcing and irrigation equipment needs.
  • Manage daily farm operations with company leads and grower.
  • Manage contracted labor forces and coordinate such labor with contract labor leads.
  • Coordinate with food safety personnel including company hired consultants and shipping partners’ employees and implement all required food safety protocol requested by food safety personnel.
  • Coordinate with grower/owner, sales, harvest lead, irrigation lead, tractor lead for daily harvest plans.
  • Communicate with cooler and sales harvest updates
  • Verify with harvest leads that harvest packaging inventory is reported to shipping parties
  • Verify input of farm operation data by company leads are entered correctly and timely by company leads into Ag software.
  • Coordinate with tractor lead and mechanics to guarantee working condition of equipment (ie., Service, maintenance, fabrication)
  • Coordinate with tractor lead and mechanics equipment related operations.
  • Communicate with vendors and office staff purchases of farm inputs, parts, supplies etc.
  • Communicate with company leads and office staff inventory reports and equipment billing reports for allocations.

Qualifications: 

  • Prior farm experience, highly desired
  • A  College Degree related to Agriculture, preferred
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and oral
  • Excellent organizational & negotiating skills
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to make sound decisions and solve problems
  • Must have a, “Whatever it takes”, attitude.
