Job Description:

NSF International’s Food Safety Programs helps businesses increase confidence in food safety procedures and demonstrate compliance with government regulations and customer requirements, offering a total food safety solution from farm to fork. This includes delivering field evaluations, laboratory testing, consulting, and training to growers, shippers, processors, distributors, and retailers around the world.
       
Basic Purpose:         
       
Responsible for all NSF Agriculture services including Farm Assurance services (both accredited and non-accredited), consulting and development of supply chain services and business solutions for the Primary Agriculture food supply chain.

Responsibilities & Duties: 
  • Lead the strategic, commercial and operational development of NSF’s agriculture assurance services in the US.
  • Provide effective General Management of NSF Agriculture US with line-management for key technical and operational personnel.
  • Develop and execute business plans and budgets, taking full P&L responsibility for the US business unit.
  • Develop and further grow the NSF’s share of the North America farm assurance sector and develop new services to meet the evolving needs of the North American customers and stakeholder:
    • Lead technical staff in service development.
    • Work with NSF Marketing to design and execute marketing activity.
    • Work with the NSF Business Development function to develop and present business proposal and to ensure effective project management for new initiatives.
    • Work with operations to ensure high quality customer service systems are in place.
  • Review our existing commercial operations to identify opportunities for improving customer services and business profitability.
  • Liaise with NSF Affiliates in Latin America to coordinate the delivery of NSF Agriculture certification services and international key account management.
  • Liaise with NSF Affiliates in other Business areas (specifically NSF Specialty Foods) on the delivery of new business opportunities in the Agriculture sector.
  • Identify opportunities across the different agricultural sectors to build  and develop diversified technical services using in-house technical resources, external expertise and strategic alliances with synergistic organizations.
  • Pursue strategic and large-scale business opportunities in the agriculture supply chain, major food processors, retail sector and government / industry bodies, including coordinating the preparation and presentation of business presentations and proposals.
  • Participate in tradeshows and industry events and serve as the commercial face of NSF Agriculture US in high-profile speaking engagements and media inquiries.
  • Participate in the NSF Agriculture Global Management Team to develop the broader strategic and commercial development of NSF Agriculture internationally.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications: 

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Food Science/Technology/Public Health or a related qualification.
  • Minimum of ten (10) years industry experience in the agri-food sector, managing agricultural issues / supply chains.
  • Experience in building and managing cost and revenue budgets.
  • Experience of working with management information and industry data to monitor and improve supply chain performance. 
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to lead and contribute to the development and presentation of business proposals.
  • Highly numerate with strong negotiation skills.
  • A valid driver license and reliable transportation
  • Must maintain a valid and current passport and have the ability to travel domestically and internationally at least 6 working days per month.
  • Computer literate and proficient with Microsoft Office software, i.e. Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, etc.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Advanced degree, e.g., Master’s.
  • Professional industry related registration, e.g., PE, RS.
  • Knowledge of NSF policies and procedures.

 
Additional Details:         
       
Physical Demand:

  • Required to sit for long periods of time.
  • Required to stand at long periods of time (trade shows, client locations, etc.).
  • Moderate physical effort required (ability to move up to 45 lbs. from one area to another).
  • Domestic and international business travel is necessary by car or plane.

Work Environment:

  • Most work is performed in an office environment.
  • Some work is performed at client locations, trade shows, conferences, etc.
  • Smoke free work environment.
