Production Supervisor

Job Description: 

We are currently seeking a Production Supervisor in Salinas, California.

Under the direction of the Director of Manufacturing, oversee plant production, safety, quality and cost control.  Direct the workforce in a safe environment, maintaining accident-free work record while producing a quality product with high levels of production.  Monitor and evaluate cost per pound and pound per man hour to standards.  Develop good employee relations based upon company vision.  Interpret company policy for hourly employees.

Responsibilities & Duties: 
  • Daily review production schedule requirements and lay out a plan to accomplish daily production schedule.
  • Communicate and supervise workforce to production plan following Good Manufacturing Practices, Quality, Safety and Cost Control policies.
  • Coach and develop teamwork with employees and units using positive employee relations techniques.
  • Produce oral and written communication of production activity in detail and summary to management daily.
  • Assume the responsibilities of the Production Manager in his/her absence.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Directly Supervises:

  • The Production Supervisor is responsible for the direct supervision of Production Personnel. This includes Crew Leaders, PMO’s, Heavy Laborers and General Laborers.
Education: 
  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent technical schooling or equivalent education and work experience in Food Manufacturing.
Skills: 
  • Supervisory experience is highly desirable.
  • Knowledge of food safety, good manufacturing practices, general plant safety practices and procedures are required.

Bilingual in English and Spanish preferred. Computer literacy in word processing and spreadsheet programs is required. Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.  Able to write routine reports and correspond via e-mail, effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization.

Calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume.  Apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.

Solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.  Interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.

Licenses and Certifications:

  • Valid Driver’s License
  • First Aid Certificate/CPR Training (Company will train)

The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate to loud.
