Job Description:
Responsible for controllership accounting functions and processes overseeing the company’s vertically integrated growing & commodity Vegetable business segment in the U.S.A and Mexico, execution of company accounting policies & procedures, conforming to GAAP. Provide leadership and assist in the coordination of company financial planning, reporting and budget management functions.
Responsibilities & Duties:
- Direct the day-to-day execution of the Vegetable business segment accounting functions and processes.
- Grower accounting processes.
- Present accurate and timely financial statements and analyses to senior management.
- Closely coordinate, communicate and partner with the Vegetable segment business managers, particularly Sales, Business Management (Marketing), Customer Service, Operations, Logistics and Raw Product.
- Serve as the management’s internal consultant on all relevant accounting matters. Keep senior management updated on changes and compliance with GAAP and insure practices and policies are compliant.
- Develop and enforce the company’s Vegetable segment and grower accounting policies and procedures.
- Coordinate the annual audit for the Vegetable segment to produce a timely and efficient audit by the company’s independent auditors.
- Assist in coordination of the company financial planning and budget management functions.
- Recommend benchmarks for measuring the financial and operating performance of divisions and departments.
- Assist in monitoring and analysis of monthly operating results against budget and forecast.
- Assist in the preparation of financial outlooks, financial forecasts and cash planning.
- Establish and implement short- and long-range departmental goals & objectives.
- Oversee accounting processes and assist in the overall financial management of all corporate entities and subsidiaries.
- Assist in directing financial audits and provide recommendations for procedural improvements.
- Assist in supervising employees in the Accounting Department as it pertains to coordinating and overseeing the Vegetable segment accounting processes.

Qualifications:
- B.S. degree in Accounting and minimum of 10 years of practical experience in accounting, and minimum of 5 years practical experience as an operational controller in a vertically integrated grower / shipper environment or, an equivalent combination of education and work experience.
- Must be highly skilled in the use and application of the company’s computer system or similar system and approved accounting policies and procedures.
- CPA certification desired.
- Experience & working knowledge of accounting principles, regulations, practices, and currency translation for U.S. and Mexico based operations highly desirable.
- Must be willing to identify opportunities to improve internal processes, develop & make recommendations and implement / execute decisions.
Language Skills:
- Ability to read, analyze, and interpret common scientific and technical journals, financial reports, and legal documents.
- Ability to respond to common inquiries or complaints from customers, regulatory agencies, or members of the business community.
- Ability to effectively present information to top management, public groups, and/or board of directors.
- Excellent verbal and written communications skills required.
Reasoning Ability:
- Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw conclusions.
- Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.
