JOB FILLED - Food Safety Coordinator

Job Description:

Overview:
The position works with sanitation crews, mechanics, and the harvest department maintaining GHP, GAP programs, and internal and external audit requirements. This position reports directly to the Director of Food Safety. 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Maintain required GHP and GAP programs and associated documentation.
  • Help develop and implement Standard Operating procedures (SOPs) and Standard Sanitation Operating Procedures (SSOPs) as required for all food safety programs.
  • Assist management to maintain and monitor food safety programs.
  • Enforce policies related to food safety by facilitating communication of food safety information to employees.
  • Monitor and assist with all elements of field sanitation.
  • Conduct and document internal audits of harvest crews.
  • Audit all operations for compliance to 3rd party audit requirements and customer food safety programs.
  • Take lead in 3rd party or customer audits as needed.
  • Train crews on food safety programs and document training.
  • Develop, provide, and document training for Foremen.
  • Develop, provide, and document training for Sanitation employees.
  • Maintain first aid supplies for harvest crews.  Inspect first aid kits.
  • Assist with and maintain needed supplies for the harvest crew to comply with food safety requirements.
  • Work with contracted third parties to ensure the company’s standards are met.
  • Conduct and document internal audits of contracted harvest crews.
  • Continue learning food safety principles and attend trainings.
  • Ability to interact effectively with all levels of company staff and to work independently as needed.
  • Assist in troubleshooting food safety problems, and implementing improvements.
  • Assist with product sampling program when necessary.
  • Lead by example, encourage innovation and change.

Areas of focus include but are not limited to:

  • Manage and maintain Food Safety System;
  • Develop and maintain professional working relationships with other departments;
  • Train employees on Food Safety policies;
  • Participate in 3rd party audits.

Computer Skills:
To perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge of MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook); Famous Software, MAC and Windows Usage experience. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform essential functions.

Language Skills: Bi-lingual/Bi-literate in English/Spanish required.

Other Qualifications: Must be able to travel and relocate to Yuma, AZ as required (typically November through April).

Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in food science or any related field (preferred but not required); or
  • At least 2 years’ experience working with food safety-related functions.

  • Good organizational skills. 
  • Must have a valid driver’s license and a safe driving record.

Compensation:

  • $67,000 - $75,000, depending on experience
  • 100% paid benefits for employee: medical, dental, vision & life
    • Minimum weekly contribution for dependents (Spouse: $20, Children: $15, or Family: $25 per week)
  • Up to 3 weeks of paid vacation after designated service time.
  • Year-end discretionary bonus

$67,000 - $75,000 DOE
