Retail Account Manager, Central Region

Job Description: 

The National Mango Board (NMB) is a national promotion and research organization, which is supported by assessments from domestic and imported mangos. The board’s mission is to increase awareness and consumption of fresh mangos in the U.S.

The NMB advances this mission through three core programs: marketing, research and industry relations. Within the marketing program, the NMB conducts consumer outreach, foodservice marketing and retail promotions, which work together to help drive mango sales. 

As a Retail Account Manager in the central region, your highest priority is to build great relationships with the retailers in the region and keep up their enthusiasm for selling and promoting mangos. Using a rich set of tools provided by the NMB, you would help retailers handle, merchandise, and promote mangos more effectively, so they can maximize their mango sales.

Requirements: 
  • 5+ years experience in a marketing or sales position in the produce industry.
  • Existing relationships with produce retailers in the central region.
  • Strong sales/relationship building skills.
  • Organized, detail-oriented, and practices impeccable follow through.
  • Self-directed with an entrepreneurial spirit.
  • Experience working in a home office with limited oversight.
  • Ability to work independently in your own remote work location in the central region.

The central region includes the following states:  Texas, Oklahoma, Arkansas, Missouri, Kansas, Iowa, Wisconsin, Minnesota, Illinois, Indiana, Ohio, and Michigan.  Kentucky and Tennessee may be added to the region.

This is a contracted opportunity, not an offer of employment.  NMB retail team members are 1099 contractors who are responsible for their own taxes, insurance and other benefits. 

The responsibilities of the central region retail account manager are expected to take up roughly 170 workdays per year.  Some of our team members represent other, non-competing commodity boards or brands in the produce arena.

Responsibilities & Duties: 
  • Engage with retail buyers, category managers and directors of produce through face to face meetings and phone/email follow up to help these retailers grow their mango sales
  • Reach out to the nutritionists, social media/digital and fresh cut category managers within each retail organization to secure their support for mango promotions.
  • Help these retail contacts access our available resources - including training tools, category development, crop forecasting and others to help them grow their mango business.
  • Use promotional incentive funds with our target retailers to set up powerful promotions that drive increased mango sales.
  • Encourage retailer follow through on promotions and conduct follow up and analysis of completed promotions.
  • Assist in communicating the work of the retail team to the NMB staff and board of directors.
