The Regional Operations Manager oversees the general management the Forward Distribution Centers (FDCs) in Dallas, Denver, Seattle, Oxnard, and Calgary. Proactively manage each FDC to ensure that it:  produces value in our products and services to our customers; produces a stable, secure, and high quality work environment for all employees; and produces company market value for all stockholders. In addition, this position will be responsible for the quality of ripening avocados and ensuring proper stage specifications are obtained and shipped according to standard operating procedures.

Requirements: 
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Business or related field
  • 5 to 10 years’ of work related experience with 5 years of experience in supervisory capacity
  • 4 to 10 years’ experience working in a distribution center
  • Ability to work in temperature controlled environments that can range anywhere from 34 – 42 degrees.
  • Demonstrated ability to develop and lead a team to obtain high performance.  Able to coach, develop, and motivate others within and across the organization.  
  • Rely on extensive experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals.  A wide degree of creativity and latitude is expected
  • Proven ability to be result focused, metric driven, and translate priorities and actions into measurable results and hold self and others accountable to achieve individual, departmental, and company goals
  • Excellent problem solving skills with a strong ability to effectively identify problems by framing issues, leveraging data, and developing and implementing solutions
  • Bilingual (English and Spanish) a plus
  • Willing to travel both domestically and internationally
Responsibilities & Duties: 
  • The avocado ripening process:
    • Based on forecasted needs, plan direct, execute, and monitor the ripening process.  determine product disposition and perform quality and color checks
    • Communicate with individuals or groups verbally and/or in writing on all issues that directly affect the ripening process
    • Control of inventory on a daily basis; ensure quality evaluations of inbound, outbound product are carried out, documented according to reporting requirements. Must report product that does not meet specifications, including pallet, packaging, or product appearance
  • Prepare monthly Profit & Loss (P & L) analysis. Resourcefully find ways to reduce and control costs associated with labor, fruit consignment, aged fruit, utilities, R & M, and supplies
  • Review and approve plans for capital investment including ongoing analysis and assessment of current layouts or designs of equipment, propose ways to improve work flow, costs, or efficiencies such as repetitive problems with machinery, etc.
  • Responsible and champion a clear channel of communication and coordination between other departments.  Coordinate with Sales, Global Sourcing, and Inventory Departments on the upcoming needs and projections/forecasts of Mission’s current customer base
  • Identify areas for improvements in food safety, quality, service, and productivity
  • Provide continuous guidance and direction to each respective FDC manager
  • Act as the subject matter expert in produce and train staff on produce quality indicators and best practices
  • Facilitate a profitable operation that produces safe quality service efficiently
  • Perform other duties as requested
