To supply customers with the world's finest avocados, we operate packing facilities in five countries and own eight regional ripening centers in North America. Our distribution centers and transportation capabilities ensure peak eating-quality avocados from the tree to the customer. And when it comes to food safety, we adhere to the Good Agricultural Practices (GAP) program and Good Harvesting Practices (GHP). The Packing House Manager will manage the Production, Bagging, Dry Goods, and Sanitation departments in one of the newest and the largest Avocado Packing House in North America.  The successful Packing House Manager will lead by example and develop a culture that simultaneously demonstrates safety and productivity.  Our goals include building a strong manufacturing operation by embracing LEAN principles, investing in technology and in our employees.  We take pride in our quality standards and our continued growth and we seek a leader who wants to grow and achieve success right along with us.

Requirements:

Minimum Qualifications & Requirements:

  • Minimum of 5 years leadership experience in a similar position with produce experience.
  • BS in Logistics, Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, Agricultural Economics, Agriculture Business Management, Agricultural Engineering, Industrial & Operational Engineering, Pomology, or similar field 
  • Experienced user of Microsoft Office.
  • Valid driver’s license for business travel as needed.
  • Experience with ERP Systems.
  • Working knowledge on BRC or other Food Safety Certification Programs

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Familiar with Lean Manufacturing tools such as: 5’s, OEE, ME, Standard Work, Pareto Analysis, 5-Why’s, Ishikawa Diagrams, Autonomous Maintenance, Information and Materials Flows, Value-Stream-Mapping, Process Mapping, and Quality at the Source preferred.
  • Green Belt Certification a plus.
  • Deep expertise in fruit or vegetable packing house.
  • HACCP Certification a plus.
  • Bilingual in English and Spanish a plus.   
Responsibilities & Duties: 
  • Individual will be ultimate responsible for delivering lagging and leading KPI’s on:
    • Safety: Incident Rate and Safety Compliance. (Gemba Walks / Safety Audits).
    • Food Safety: Superior Rating on Audits and Food Safety Compliance
    • Talent Management: Hiring, retaining and training talent.
    • Quality: Quality at the Source Indicators.
    • Fruit Utilization: SPC measurements on fresh fruit utilization and quality consistency.
    • Productivity: OEE and ME.
    • Service Level: Production Schedule Adherence. OSCOT percentage.
  • Develop and enforce standard work to improve the quality of the production processes
  • Schedule resources effectively and efficiently.
  • Supervise and coach leaders  
  • Lead “continuous improvement efforts”
