Job Description: 

Marengo Foods Company, LLC is a company dedicated to the distribution and marketing of its own crop, grown in Mexico, with several locations in a country that allows a year round program, and a consistent supply of its products.

We were formed in August of 2009 as a partnership between three well-established growers. This partnership was the result of continuous improvement studies and statistical analysis that showed us the need to come closer to our customers and bring the freshest and safest product to the consumer.  

We are looking to add a Fresh Produce Buyer to our team in Dallas, TX!

As a Fresh Produce Buyer your responsibilities will include purchasing all repack materials, setting and adjusting selling prices, managing perishable inventory and completing inventory and profit reports.

Requirements: 
  • 4 year college degree in related field.
  • Minimum 3-5 years of purchasing experience in the produce industry.
  • Excellent verbal and written communications skills with strong relationship building skills.
  • Knowledge of commodity locations, growing and harvesting practices, packaging and repackaging and distribution.
  • Must be proficient with Microsoft Office.
  • Must have experience working with software programs I Solve, Retail Link and I-Trade. 
  • Spanish language is a plus. 
Responsibilities & Duties: 
  • Must have knowledge of produce specific information such as growing seasons, inflation/ deflation cycles, inventory experience, and knowledge of pricing.
  • Analyze and monitor sales records, trends, weather/seasons and economic conditions to forecast consumer-buying patterns and determine inventory needs.
  • Purchase of all repack materials such as labels, plastics, containers and specialty items.
  • Establish and adjust selling prices by monitoring costs, competitive factors and supply and demand, while also working with sales staff to obtain information about customer specific needs and preferences.
  • Examine, select, order and purchase products at the most favorable price, consistent with quality, quantity, specification requirements and other established factors.
  • Responsible for the management of perishable inventory purchased by daily review of sales, inventory adjustments and inventory quantities.
  • Compile weekly, monthly, quarterly, and yearly inventory and profit reports.
