Mann Packing Company, a pioneer in the fresh-cut produce industry and one of North America’s leading suppliers of fresh produce to the retail, foodservice and wholesale markets is looking to hire an experienced Director of Research & Development.
We are currently looking for a Production Manager to join our team in Salinas, CA.
As the Production Manager you are responsible for providing daily leadership to the production floor of the Salinas manufacturing facility. This includes developing efficiency strategies to ensure the facility meets production goals and standards to minimize manufacturing costs. You will also work directly with department heads to coordinate material flow, production, quality and some distribution operations, and is responsible for upholding a safe work environment throughout the entire facility.
- High School diploma required. Bachelor’s degree preferred.
- 5+ years of proven and successful leadership experience working in a production environment, preferably in food production.
- Knowledge of business and management principles (budgeting, strategic planning, optimum employee utilization, human resources).
- Familiarity with industry standard equipment and technical expertise.
- Knowledgeable of food safety, human safety, product quality, material flow and demand planning.
- Strong team building, decision making and people management skills.
- Ability to create personal/team accountability and the courage to lead by example.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Finely-tuned organizational and time management skills.
- Desire to advance to greater levels of responsibility.
- Bilingual language skills – English and Spanish.
- Computer skills – Microsoft office.
- Provide leadership to ten (10) direct reports consisting of four (4) production supervisors per shift, one (1) sanitation supervisor and one (1) process improvement leader.
- Ensure accurate and timely communications between production teams and production shifts.
- Ensure daily production schedule is executed efficiently to meet Customer Service deadlines.
- Ensure daily Quality, Food Safety, and Financial Accounting paperwork is completed ACCURATELY.
- Ensure the production supervisors understand and utilize the Production Data Collection System to improve production throughput and product yields.
- Ensure daily staffing requirements meet budgetary guidelines and supervisors are managing to this.
- Ensure accurate and timely follow up to all Human Safety related issues.
- Ensure Supervisors are leading their teams with a fair and consistent management process.
- Ensure accurate and proactive communications with all departments (Production and Technical Services, Maintenance, Refrigeration, Shipping, Receiving and Sales).
- In partnership with HR, work through Union issues in compliance with the CBA.
