Job Description:
Mann Packing Company, a pioneer in the fresh-cut produce industry and one of North America’s leading suppliers of fresh produce to the retail, foodservice and wholesale markets is looking to hire an experienced Director of Research & Development.
The Director of Research & Development - Fresh Leaf Farms will be responsible for the development of new products and the improvement of existing products and processes in order to achieve optimal customer satisfaction while meeting the company’s quality, profit and growth targets.

Requirements:
- BS in Food Science, Food Engineering or related field with a minimum of ten years related work experience in Product Development.
- Minimum of 5 years in supervision or management of employees.
- Proven track record in developing new products and processes.
- Thorough understanding of cost and budgeting practices.
- Experience with food safety and government regulatory agencies (FDA, USDA).
- Strong analytical skills.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office programs.
Responsibilities & Duties:
- Reviewing all new product requests for technical feasibility and production/quality viability.
- Leading the product development process for all FLF products, which requires very good communication with Sales, Marketing, the Grower, Quality Assurance and Operations.
- Identifying emerging technology and food trends for development.
- Evaluating current packaging, products and processes to establish maximum shelf life of all current operations
- Work with vendors, equipment suppliers, outside agencies, and professional organizations to develop new business opportunities and solutions to technical and product problems.
- Prioritize, plan, execute and monitor approved new product and process improvement projects based on market viability
- Effectively communicate project-related issues and status to management
- Demonstrate a desire to hold positions of increasing responsibility through personal conduct, professional development, and involvement in such activities as allowed by management to enhance professional skill set.
