We have an immediate opening for a Cost Accountant with Fresh Leaf Farms in Salinas, CA.
As the Cost Accountant, you will be responsible for the installation, development and efficient functioning of the management accounting system. You will design the frame work of the financial and cost control reports that provide useful data at the most appropriate time.
- 4 year degree in accounting.
- 4-5 years of general accounting experience.
- Work under minimal supervision.
- Examine and verify financial documents.
- Communicate financial information with department managers.
- Promote the mission, vision and values of Mann Packing Company.
- Communicate effectively, orally and in writing.
- Prepare a variety of financial statements, reports and analysis timely and accurately.
- Establish and maintain effective internal and external working relationships.
- Demonstrate a high level of proficiency with computer software as necessary to perform duties.
- Provide accurate and timely financial information.
- Strong documentation and organizational skills.
- Communicate financial information with other departments.
- Maintain integrity and accuracy of accounting system.
- Implement and ensure that proper accounting controls are in place for purchasing, receiving, and inventories.
- Provide analysis and managerial accounting for the management and manufacturing team.
- Develop systems and procedures to capture and report production activities including raw product material issues and resulting yields, packaging material waste by item, and labor costs by line.
- Utilize JD Edwards capabilities as appropriate.
- Report production capacity and capacity bottlenecks by product/production line.
- Insure accurate capture of labor cost invoices and accurate coding of labor invoices.
- Provide oversight and review of field measure reporting.
- Provide costing analysis for all product SKUs, including maintenance of bills of materials for all SKUs, and crewing by SKU for each production operation.
- Review and ensure that business unit spending and coding of invoices is in line with budgets.
- Recommend opportunities for cutting costs and provide follow up to insure those agreed upon are implemented.
- Providing information for audits.
- Work with all departments and the management team to help make financial decisions.
- Assist in preparation of monthly journal entry and analysis.
- Reconciliation – balance sheet accounts as assigned.
- Monthly closing process – posting, balancing and reconciling subsidiary ledgers.
- Assist in preparation of financial statements.
- Monthly reporting to various agencies.
- Provide financial information to other departments.
- Cross train and support all other accounting functions and positions.
- Assist in preparation of budgets and budget variance analysis.
- Any other duties as assigned.
