Job Description: 

Mann Packing Company, a pioneer in the fresh-cut produce industry and one of North America’s leading suppliers of fresh produce to the retail, foodservice and wholesale markets.

We are currently looking for Corporate Director of Quality Assurance and Food Safety in Salinas, CA.

As the Corporate Director of Quality Assurance and Food Safety you will lead our enterprise-wide quality assurance and food safety operations and will work alongside operations leadership at our various manufacturing sites. As a member of the Mann Packing corporate leadership team, you will serve as a key leader in our dynamic, rapidly growing business.

Requirements: 
  • BA/BS in Quality Assurance, Food Science or related field.
  • 10+ years of experience in the food industry, with quality supervisory background with a minimum of 5 years of management experience in a high-volume fresh prepared food business.
  • 3-5 years manufacturing experience. HACCP certification is desired.
  • Understand the food safety regulations established by different governmental agencies.
  • Experience with GFSI certification preparation and validation and verification of GFSI systems.
  • A proven track record of creative solutions to operational and food safety challenges with exceptional performance as it relates to the 3rd party audits.
  • A proven track record of effectively hiring and managing a team that has led to successful outcomes, strong systems and processes.
  • Proven ability to make accurate analysis of food safety and quality systems, potential risks, and non-conformances; experience conducting audits; experience with risk assessment.
  • Prior management-level responsibility for food safety and prerequisite programs, QA, HACCP, GMP, GAP, SQF, Lean Manufacturing, contract manufacturing, P&L.
  • Must be able to provide assistance to operations to build, implement, and evaluate food safety and defense risk management systems.
  • Experience managing regulatory agency interactions and updates.
Responsibilities & Duties: 
  • Provide vital oversight to company facilities to ensure that the appropriate food safety controls are in place.
  • Develop, implement, and direct food safety systems, quality assurance procedures, food defense systems, environmental control programs.
  • Partner with plant leadership teams to ensure buy-in and commitment to quality assurance and food safety programs.
  • Establish a pattern of internal audits and work with facility leadership to develop corrective action plans and monitor results of plans as necessary.
  • Ensure effective training is provided for QA-related programs to employees, contractors and suppliers.
  • Integrate HACCP principles into the company’s production processes.
  • Responds to customer and consumer issues, providing input for corrective and preventive actions to company leadership.
  • Refine and maintain company crisis management plan and recall programs.
  • Coordinate with R&D and other corporate staff to assist the development and implementation of new products, process and product improvements and cost savings initiatives.
  • Provide guidance on future facility layout, ideal food flow and risk management program.
  • Represent Mann Packing in the public arena as it relates to food safety and quality.
  • Maintain professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops, reviewing professional publications, establishing personal networks.
  • Manage existing relationships and build new strategic partnerships critical to the success of the business as it relates to food safety partnerships, supplier partnerships and technology to support market operations.
