Live Oak Farms is a diversified, family owned farming company whose focus is growing, packing, and marketing fresh tomatoes and bell peppers in Le Grand, California.  The company’s 85 year history and reputation within the produce industry is a testament to our company’s focus on Quality, Customer Service, Integrity and Sustainability.

We are currently searching for a Packinghouse General Manager in Le Grand, Ca.

As the Packinghouse General Manager, you will take a “hands-on” approach in the management of our three packing operations. You are responsible for managing the day-to-day operations of our packing facilities and will actively participate in the development of new business units.

Requirements: 
  • Extensive experience in packinghouse operations.
  • Three years’ experience in the packing of fresh tomatoes or bell peppers.
  • A strong mechanical background in preventive maintenance.
  • English/Spanish bilingual skills are desirable, but not mandatory.
  • Ability to effectively communicate across all departments and levels of the company.
  • Working knowledge of food safety regulations and guidance, including HACCP and Good Manufacturing Practices.
  • Comprehension of applicable workplace health and safety regulations.
  • A willingness to work extended hours as necessary.   
  • Knowledge of Excel and Famous accounting software.
Responsibilities & Duties: 
  • Manage day-to-day operations of tomato and pepper packinghouses, including the scheduling of multiple packing lines, maintenance, sanitation, personnel, vendor supply contracts, and inventory control.
  • Communicate company expectations to the production and maintenance teams so that established quality and customer service standards are consistently maintained throughout the season.
  • Implement procedures to ensure that workplace health and safety standards are met.
  • Successfully implement food safety practices in accordance with industry established best practices and applicable federal, state and local regulations.
  • Research, recommend, and implement new capital projects to meet the production goals established by the management team.
  • Other responsibilities as directed.
