Quality Assurance Food Safety Manager

Job Description:

Position will be a part of the Initiative Team supporting Latin Specialties Manufacturing Plant in Houston, TX.
This position will be responsible for managing the Food Safety and Quality Assurance Programs for production operations at Latin Specialties. Manager will also be responsible for implementing overall Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), policies and guidelines.

Requirements: 
  • At least 3 years prior experience in a similar role.
  • At least 1 year prior experience with any related aspect of farm production.
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office programs (i.e. Excel, Word, Outlook, etc.).
  • Good analytical, interpersonal and communication skills (i.e. written and verbal).
  • Ability to successfully train diverse groups in food safety and quality standards.
  • Preferred but not Essential:
  • Bi-Lingual: English/Spanish.
Responsibilities & Duties: 
  • Oversee implementation of all aspects of Quality Assurance and Food Safety programs.
  • Consistently review all Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs), Good Agricultural Practices (GAPs), Quality Assurance (QA) and Food Safety policies to continuously drive process improvements and efficiencies.
  • Develop and implement written SOPs/policies/guidelines and all required documentation to ensure 3rd-party certifications.
  • Conduct routine facility audits
  • Maintain all documents of the HACCP Program
  • Specifying quality requirements of incoming raw materials with suppliers
  • Act as a catalyst for change and improvement in performance and quality
  • Supervise finished-product inspections and generate timely and accurate QA reports to corporate sales and production.
  • Develop and perform training programs related to QA, Food Safety and regulatory compliance.
  • Support operations in production, testing, new product development and customer service.
Education: 
  • Bachelor’s degree in Food Science, Horticulture or Agriculture, from an accredited institution.
