Koppert Cress USA is seeking a Specialty Grower who will be responsible for plant cultivation, propagation, protection and optimization of our Specialty varieties in our time-sensitive, specialty greenhouse production with a strong focus on quality, efficiency and productivity in a team environment to support the growth of our premier company.

The Specialty Grower reports directly to the Production Manager and General Manager and will be based in our greenhouses in Riverhead and Cutchogue, NY.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage the day-to-day greenhouse growing operations and weekly harvest cycles for our Specialties, focused on plant cultivation, propagation, protection and optimization.
  • Manage the growing cycle according to the standards of Koppert Cress.
  • Ensure that the production of the Specialties consistently meets or exceeds performance metrics in quality, efficiency, customer demand and satisfaction.
  • Efficiently meets short-term and long range growing plans in support of forecasted sales.
  • Assist in the packing and shipping operations.
  • Actively protects our brand and our agricultural products, unique in flavor, fragrance and beauty— and assume responsibility for on-time delivery, quality consistency, and cost containment.
  • Ensure that proper procedures and practices are executed consistently.
  • Maintain greenhouse facility and equipment to the highest standards and be responsible for compliance with all health, safety, and building code regulations.
  • Be a team player and effectively resolve cross-departmental issues.
  • Actively participate in meetings.

Requirements:

  • College degree.
  • 3 years growing experience preferred.
  • Organic implementations experience a plus, but not required.
  • Bilingual English/Spanish.
  • Ability to work well in a time sensitive, value added, precision-production environment.
  • Excellent organizational and interpersonal skills.
  • Experienced and effective in working in culturally diverse environments.
  • Excellent follow-through with outstanding judgment and a positive attitude.
  • Effective in a dynamic, fast-paced environment focused on quality and efficiency.
  • Ability to absorb new information quickly and translate key points into consistent results.
  • Results oriented and flexible; at ease in a team environment.
  • Good written and oral communications skills with a desire and proven ability to communicate with people at different knowledge levels.
  • Pesticide Applicator/Technician Licensed or will need to be acquired after employment.
  • Basic knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite, Word, Excel and Outlook.
