Packing Line Manager

Job Description: 

The Packing Line Manager’s main function is to assure constantly the achievement of immediate and short-term production objectives to assure internal and external customer satisfaction.  Oversees activities such as high production output, high quality product, wastes reduction, elimination of safety issues, and reduction of overtime costs. In addition, the PLS assures that Company’s product meets or exceeds efficiency and quality standards established by Food Safety/Quality Assurance Department. The PLS also serves as a role model, leader, trainer and mentor to immediate staff members. This Position is year-round operating in Loxahatchee, FL; Adel GA; and White Pine TN. The Packing Line Manager directly reports to the Warehouse Manager.

Requirements: 
  • Minimum three (3) years in related field; fresh produce industry on-hands experience preferred
  • Bilingual (English/Spanish)
  • Computer Proficient – Outlook, MS WORD and MS Excel application minimum
  • Experience with broad range of QA standards.
  • Experience in developing and maintaining a motivated hard working team
  • Demonstrate desire for achieving excellence in customer satisfaction, product quality and reliability.
  • Strong interpersonal, written, communication, and organizational skills.
  • Leadership skills that inspire team confidence and respect in a creative and effective manner 
  • Detail oriented and ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously in a deadline oriented environment.
  • Must be able to work nights and weekends or as business or operation needs arise.
  • Ability to work in wet and cold environment and occasional lift, bend and twist
  • Responsible for providing productivity reports, scrap reports, downtime reports and other reporting as determined by the Warehouse Manager.
  • Coordinate and assess required training and team building to provide staff with the necessary tools and skills to be successful in their roles and improve the workforce.
  • Must be Forklift Certified, but willing to train.
  • Valid State issued Driver’s License.

Travel Requirements:

  • Must be able to travel 6 months out of the year (GA &TN).

Education and Experience:

  • High school Diploma / GED / Equivalent required. Bachelor’s Degree preferred
  • Any equivalent combination of related education and/or experience may be considered for the above.

Typical Physical Demands:

Stand, walk, twist, bend, and lift. PS must be able to travel. PS will be frequently exposed to moving mechanical parts, vibration and hazardous materials. Regular use of hands to manipulate phones and computer key board. 

Typical Work Conditions: 

  • Work is performed in a warehouse environment. Employee frequently interacts directly with team members during the workday.

Responsibilities & Duties: 
  • Supports the Company's mission, vision, values and goals in performance of daily activities.
  • Responsible for performance feedback and leadership of all direct subordinates including mentoring, coaching, counseling and corrective action when situations dictate.
  • Responsible for providing productivity reports, scrap reports, downtime reports and other reporting as determined by the Warehouse Manager.
  • Responsible for following all internal and OSHA required safety procedures in performing all daily work activities.
  • Leads the overall coordination and communication of the area he/she supervises.
  • Responsible for ensuring accountability and discipline.
  • Oversees the Production line activities with trade support and the work team.
  • Oversees his/her shift manpower resources and utilization to assure compliance and improvement to the budget and coordinate/facilitate lean manufacturing activities.
  • Provides key input into the development of departmental strategic goals along with identifying key measurable to support the departmental goals.
  • Assists with plant activities to achieve quality, productivity and cost reduction goals.
  • Coordinate and assess required training and team building to provide staff with the necessary tools and skills to be successful in their roles and improve the workforce.
  • Prepares all accident reports to include identification of root cause and corrective action.
  • Responsible for ensuring the entire team has the necessary tools and materials to properly perform their roles safely and efficiently.
  • Assures all safety devices are properly in place and utilized and verify individual usage of personal protection equipment (PPE) by the work team.
  • Maintains a positive working relationship with all levels of the organization and provide leadership and promote positive moral and ensure a total team concept.
  • Adherence to all company policies and procedures (ex. Quality Policy Manual, Company Handbook, SOP’s)
  • Planning including developing and assisting with hiring (re-hiring), training, capacity-modeling, efficiency/yield assumptions.
  • Implements existing production targets and make adjustments as necessary to product demands within specifications.
  • Maintains Housekeeping at a high level within the department through the involvement of all team and interdepartmental piers and subordinates.
  •  Builds Quality into all aspects of work by maintaining compliance to FS, QA and GMP’s company policies and requirements.
  • Recommends and implements action plans to correct production deviations and reduction of product waste.
  • Work closely with facility Human Resource Department personnel matters and recordkeeping.
