Production Analyst

We are currently looking for a Production Analyst to join our family in either Watsonville, Vernon, South San Francisco, CA or Mexico.

As a Production Analyst you will be responsible for working with IF and Planning and Production zones to manage key development, planning and special projects. You are also responsible for documenting, reviewing and proposing improvements to processes in place between JFDC and DC farm zones, including short and long-term Projection/Forecasting systems, Information and Data Management and Communications.

Requirements: 
  • 3 plus years’ experience in produce production.
  • Bilingual in English and Spanish.
  • Ability to lead and collaborate with internal/external teams.
  • Maintain interfaces with production leaders in all of the geographical areas.
  • Excellent written/verbal communication skills.
  • Willingness travel.
  • Honest, fair, and respectful of others.
Responsibilities & Duties: 

Crop Forecasting

  • Implement location strategy for Short and long term tomato forecasting.
  • Document how zones currently produce projections.
  • Identify areas where process constrains or breaks down and propose solutions.
  • Identify metrics for evaluating performance of short and long term production forecasts.
  • Create tools with resources available in APDC and in concert with agronomist teams to measure metrics in BCN and SJD.
  • With IF, Planning and Production, build a case for support and resources to achieve reasonable projection improvement goals as defined by project charter.                          

Communications Management

  • Improve zone production reporting and communications processes.
  • With Director of IF and/or JFDC department leaders and team members, identify purpose and objectives of production reporting system; Document and perform analysis of current reporting practices to determine if objectives are being met; Report recommendations and suggestions for creating and/or improving existing process.

Develop New Grower Groups

  • Manage Guatemala Project in planning, budgeting, execution and bring to profitable venture.
  • Focus on developing new grower zones, Mainland Mexico
  • Work with IF to develop new Basil Growing zones and expansion project.

Special projects - to be reviewed and assigned Quarterly

  • Possibilities include fair trade premium research and communications to JFDC, organizing JFDC 2015 Annual Summit, participation on PMO managed project teams, Organize annual DC grower meeting, intranet updates for International Farming, Break Even Price Point Master List.

Goals:

October – December 2015

  1. Crop Radar Phase 2 Development and Requirements Definition.
  2. Zone Score Card Implementation.
  3. New Grower Flow Chart Master List
  4. Bring HMZ and HTO zones on board, manage zones with IF Director assistance.
  5. Report on Production Reporting Practices including recommendations.
  6. Participate and provide recommendations for improving Grower Zone Meetings and communication.
  7. Assessment Field and Orientation Visit to BCN or SJD, TBD.
