We are currently looking for a Food Safety Compliance Specialist to join our team in Arvin, CA.

As the Food Safety Compliance Specialist you are responsible for the implementation, documentation, control and maintenance of detailed Quality Management Systems; including procedures, records, Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP's), Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Points (HACCP) and reassessment.

Requirements: 
  • Must have a Bachelor's Degree (BA or BS) in Food Science, Biochemistry, Biological Sciences, or Microbiology. 
  • A willingness to acquire additional training and certification, including HACCP and SQF Practitioner training, within six months of being hired. 
  • Understanding of the Global Food Safety Initiative (GFSI) standards. 
  • Understanding of Organic compliance and standards (e.g. NOP).  
  • A strong understanding of food microbiology and chemistry.  
  • Excellent leadership, communication, training and team building skills. 
  • Good writing, statistical, analytical and critical thinking skills. 
  • Ability to effective respond to the concerns of managers, subordinates, customers and regulatory agencies. 
  • Excellent organizational skills. 
  • Computer skills on MS platform. 
  • Bilingual (Spanish) a plus.  
Responsibilities & Duties: 
  • Maintain and improve on the safety, legality and quality of products and the processes. 
  • Meet and exceed customer requirements and effectively communicate with customers as requested. 
  • Maintain and review specifications. 
  • Investigate customer/consumer complaints for products manufactured on site using root cause analysis; determine corrective actions and preventative measures; respond to customer’s complaints in the required timeframe and analyze complaint trends. 
  • Day-to-day management of the quality teams, including training and development of staff and clear identification of objectives. 
  • Clearly communicate food safety and quality objectives with production, maintenance, vendors, and outside contractors. 
  • Report food safety and quality issues, corrective actions and preventative measures to the management team. 
  • Ensure training is effective for operations, sanitation and maintenance staff in basic food hygiene, GMP's, HACCP, allergen control and other food safety and quality requirements. 
  • Measure plant process capabilities, sampling plans and statistical analysis to assure compliance. 
  • Ensure physical plant inspections are conducted on a monthly basis and reports are generated for each area (pest control, operational methods, maintenance for food safety, sanitation, personnel practices, etc.). 
  • Participate and represent organization during customer and third-party audits. 
  • Assure materials are received from approved suppliers and conduct raw material supplier performance monitoring.
