We are currently looking for a Director of Operations who will be responsible for the management and oversight of two carrot packing facilities near Bakersfield, CA.

This exciting new position will center around our company’s desire to improve efficiency and operational excellence through one of our largest product lines.  This position will be responsible for the production, safety, maintenance, sanitation and quality programs at multiple facilities.

Responsibilities:

  • Interact with personnel from multiple departments across the company at all levels.
  • Design and implement new procedures, standards and performance indicators in key operational areas including plant operations, maintenance, automation, sanitation and quality control.
  • Develop and mentor facility managers and supervisors.
  • Communicate job expectations, performance goals and company standards to ensure customer service standards are achieved.
  • Follow all established food safety guidelines in accordance with risk management and governmental rules and regulations
  • Coordinate and schedule production and maintenance schedules in a fast-paced and rapidly changing sales demand environment.
  • Observe all safety policies and procedures.  Embrace a high regard for safety, leading and serving as a role model for others.
  • Propose, implement and execute new capital projects.
  • Perform all duties and responsibilities in a highly ethical manner and in accordance with Company policies and procedures; embody these behaviors in a leadership role, serving as a role model for others.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration or related field of study.
  • A minimum of 5+ years of full progressive management experience.
  • Have a thorough understanding of food production and all related requirements including HACCP, Good Manufacturing Practices and regulatory compliance.
  • Ability to effectively communicate across all departments and levels of the company.
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills.
  • Experience and knowledge of Continuous Improvement Systems such as Lean, Six Sigma, and 5s is a plus.
  • Extensive knowledge of MS Excel and business system databases.
  • Ability and willingness to travel as necessary. (Approximately 10%)
