Job Description: 

The Logistics Manager delivers GreenGate Fresh, LLLP products in the safest and most cost effective manner to meet or exceed customer expectations and to achieve site and company goals. This highly organized and computer proficient individual is accountable for the management of distribution, raw receiving, inventory (raw and finished), and utilities. 

This Manager will need to effectively work in a team environment alongside our other operational department managers to best utilize available resources (staff and equipment) to develop systems to ensure efficient inventory control, shipping/receiving and order management in our Salinas CA and Yuma, AZ locations.

Requirements: 
  • Bachelor’s degree and five (5) years of related work experience OR two years related college course work and seven (7) years related work experience OR ten (10) years’ work experience.
  • Related work experience in a manufacturing environment (preferably produce) in a lead capacity in inventory management, warehouse operations, or shipping/receiving operations. 
  • Must have prior knowledge of proper freight handling/loading techniques.
  • Supply chain certification a plus.
  • First Aid Certificate/CPR Training (Company will train).
  • Forklift operation certification, Forklift operator trainer certification preferred.
  • Valid Driver’s License.
  • Bilingual in English/Spanish required.  Ability to speak, write and read English.
  • Intermediate to advanced level Microsoft Excel skills required.  Working knowledge of Microsoft Outlook, Word, and PowerPoint required.
  • Must have ability to use or learn the ERP computer system (NAV).
  • Must have strong math skills and be able to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume. 
  • Solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.  Interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
  • May occasionally be required to lift up to 50 lbs.
  • Travel to Yuma, AZ & Salinas, CA - REQUIRED
Responsibilities & Duties: 
  • Study shipping notices, bills of lading, invoices, orders, and other records to determine shipping priorities, work assignments, and shipping methods required to meet shipping and receiving schedules, utilizing knowledge of shipping procedures, routes, and rates.
  • Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to growers, customers, clients, sales, upper management and other employees of the organization is essential.
  • Supervise and coordinate all activities of distribution office, forklift drivers, and other support staff engaged in the loading and unloading of product.
  • Ensure completeness and condition of shipments.
  • Monitor, verify, and validate maintain accuracy of records.
  • Complete necessary paperwork accurately and in a timely manner to ensure an efficient and steady flow of information.
  • Prepare and plan daily utilization of resources to ensure a consistent and efficient operation.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Work closely with Sales Department to ensure customer specifications and requirements are met.
  • Coordinate work assignments, monitor employee performance and provide training on job duties, company policies, and procedures.
  • Supervise and observe the loading of trucks to determine conformance to loading patterns to prevent damage to product during transit and that the safe operation of the truck will not be jeopardized.
  • Inspects loading operations to ensure compliance with shipping specifications.
  • Inspects material handling equipment for defects and notifies maintenance personnel or contacts outside service facility for repair.
  • Maintains vehicle maintenance report.
  • Directs movement of shipments from shipping and receiving platform to storage and work areas.
  • Compiles records of unfilled orders. Posts weight and shipping charges. Prepares bills of lading.
  • Administer and support safety and health programs to ensure a safe work place and to be in compliance with county, state, federal, national, and international regulations. 
  • Knowledge and effective interpretation and implementation of applicable labor laws.
  • Ability to work in a partnership with the Human Resources department. 
  • Foster an environment where the importance of worker and food safety is based on proper safe handling and loading of product, including maintaining cold chain integrity.
  • Utilize work method programs for training and education to motivate employees to improve performance and quality of work. 
  • Develop improved performance of employees through feedback and coaching.
