We have a part-time Merchandiser opportunity in the Northern Georgia market including Northern Alabama and Northern part of South Carolina markets (30 hours per week).

The role involves visiting retail supermarkets to maintain display standards, stock levels and building in-store relationships, with the overall objective of increasing Gourmet Garden's sales.

Core Objectives:

  • Reporting to Gourmet Garden Retail Sales Manager, the role is focused on servicing Retail Supermarkets in an assigned territory with the goal of increasing sales in all Gourmet Garden products.
  • Merchandisers will serve as Brand Ambassadors, assisting Produce Departments in merchandising Gourmet Garden stock, addressing out of stocks with Suggested Orders, manage out of code product and educate department staff on the Features and Benefits of the Gourmet Garden range.
  • The Role of the Merchandiser will allow the teams to focus on and increase sales in all banners while providing our in-store Produce Departments with the highest quality of customer service.
  • Merchandisers will identify and service high quality/high volume stores while setting territory priorities to maximize brand sales.

Responsibilities & Duties: 

Shelf Presentation – In Store Presence

  • All Authorized Items available in each Banner at all times in fresh trays per Planogram expectation.  All Merchandisers should have immediate knowledge of or access to list of authorized products in each banner they are responsible for.
  • All shelf ticketing (UPTs) in place.
  • POS on display if authorized by banner.
  • Attention to “Best Before” via rotation of stock (FIFO- first in first out), use of IRC (instant rebate coupon) as authorized.
  • Support promotional activity in all banners when authorized via ticketing, communication with Produce Department and customers.

Order Generation – No Out of Stocks

  • Merchandisers will work in tandem with the Produce Manager/department assisting them in ordering our product. 
  • While in the store the Merchandiser will prepare a suggested order using the one step order pad or scan sheet.  Merchandisers will check back room/coolers for stock and refill as necessary.
  • By developing trust and integrity with the Produce Department Merchandisers will serve as order liaisons with the goal of having the full range of authorized items available in all banners for customer purchase.

Territory Sales/Marketing Opportunities

  • Identify and implement store level opportunities for increased sales in all banners.
  • Incorporate and communicate core marketing messages that resonate with Produce Departments to serve their needs in the fresh herb category.
  • Merchandisers should set the goal to be the trusted representative that surpasses Produce Department expectations for service, knowledge and presentation.
  • Collaborate and communicate with Gourmet Garden team, Strengths, Weakness, Opportunities and Threats in territory via SWOT analysis.
  • Participate in Regional/ National shows as requested and as reasonable.
  • Assist in Blitzes to assigned accounts when requested and reasonable.

Administrative Responsibilities

  • Develop efficient and time effective territory routing.
  • Record daily calls with appropriate before and after photographs.
  • Submit all field activity prior to 15th and 30th of each month to Retail Sales Manager.
  • Prepare and submit accurate and compliant expense report to Retail Sales Manager and Accounting with all images attached.  Mail expense report to Folsom within 10 working days.
  • Check email upon commencing day in the field and respond to emails within 48 hours.
  • Develop and submit to Retail Sales Manager monthly summary with photos by 28th of each month.
  • Participate in Monthly Conference call.
  • Attend annual Sales Conference as requested.
  • Successfully complete all E-Learning assignments in a timely manner.

Key Performance Indicators

  • Satisfactory Performance Appraisals to include Field Contact Reports and Annual Review.
  • Satisfactory Occupational Health and Safety records.
  • Active adoption and promotion of the Business Core Values as identified and communicated during Orientation Process.
  • Administrative Responsibilities complete and timely.
  • Compliance to Area Budget Expectations.
  • Measurable success at Store Level via increase in UPSPW, decrease in OOC and ownership of territory management.
  • Grasp of and continued desire to develop knowledge of Gourmet Garden product line, herb category and Produce industry as a whole.

  • Previous experience will be well regarded but not essential as full training will be provided
