Job Description:
We have an opening for a Food Safety Assistant. This person will work closely with our Vice President of Food Safety in a variety of food safety, food defense and regulatory responsibilities. This is a dynamic position requiring a knowledge of fresh fruit and vegetable production, food safety and third party audits as well as strong people skills.

Requirements:
- Bachelor degree in Food Science, Food safety or related field. A degree in a STEM related curriculum will be considered for the right candidate.
- Minimum 3 years of experience in Food Safety with working knowledge of GFSI, GAP, GMP, HACCP, and quality assurance.
- Ability to travel seasonally and with a flexible work schedule.
- Strong people and communication skills.
Responsibilities & Duties:
- Assisting Giumarra Food Safety management with hazard analyses, food safety audits, regulatory requirements, and document control.
- Implementation and maintenance of food safety programs at our facilities.
- Food safety training of Giumarra employees and growers in various GFSI schemes.
- Farm and facility inspections as directed by management.
- Working with our divisions to ensure compliance with regulatory and customer food safety requirements.
- Working with customers to supply food safety documentation.
- Working as part of the Giumarra Recall Team.
- Working with FSMA compliance.
Skills:
- Spanish language proficiency.
- Familiarity with FSMA and other regulations.
- Strong computer skills and ability to multi-task.
- PCQI certification or ability to become PCQI certified.
