We have an exciting opening for a Produce Buyer to join our team in Miami, FL.
The Produce Buyer is responsible for purchasing various lines in the produce division, and will perform all tasks involved in the formation and administration of purchase orders within the group. You will communicate with suppliers, transportation and quality control personnel to ensure we provide ethical business practices and consistent supply to our customer base.
- Ability to source new shippers for a variety of produce.
- Maintain product forecasts in order to achieve a high target service level.
- Communicate product specs to suppliers and negotiate quality claims to minimize shrink in order to attain targets.
- Work with the buying team and logistics to ensure on time arrival of product.
- This position will deal with product being shipped into Miami from national growers and suppliers.
- 10 years of experience in the produce industry.
- Excellent computer skills.
- Excellent communication skills, both written and oral.
- Extremely detailed oriented.
- Working knowledge of Thyme (computerized buying system for produce) is a plus.
- Enjoy working in our fast paced environment.
- Post-secondary education is a plus.
