Job Description: 

Fresh Select LLC is a year round commercial cold storage and custom packing facility located in Dinuba, California. At Fresh Select LLC we pride ourselves in producing, packing and shipping safe, high quality fruit. The Company’s success is all about its’ people and working as a team. We are looking for a Production Supervisor to join our team.

The Production Supervisor will be responsible for planning, coordinating, organizing, and controlling the production plan within the organization. The production supervisor's main responsibility is to ensure an efficient production of goods and services by providing quantity, quality, and cost in a timely manner and ultimately meeting customer quality/service expectations. Accountability for maintaining a safe work environment, developing a team oriented work force, developing and implementing process improvements, accomplishing plant productivity goals, identifying and solving operational issues and delivering training programs will also be critical to the position.

This position reports to the General Manager and will work closely with all production staff, as well as the administrative, shipping, receiving departments.

Requirements: 

Knowledge of:

  • Principles and practices of food manufacturing, including: food safety, quality, and manufacturing concepts.
  • Working knowledge of FDA and OSHA regulations, GMPs, Sanitation, and HACCP.
  • Experience with production planning, inventory planning, and production scheduling.
  • Principles and practices of continuous improvement concepts and related application technique.
  • Pertinent Federal, State, and local laws, codes, and regulations.

Ability to:

  • Effectively manage and lead multiple projects by organizing, planning, and executing.
  • Gain cooperation through discussion and persuasion.
  • Identify, research, and analyze problems, identify alternative solutions, and project consequences of proposed actions.
  • Use computers and computer software including word processing, spreadsheets, and databases.

Experience, Certification/Licenses and Training:

  • High School Diploma, (GED) or 3 to 5 years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience (Citrus and Tree Fruit experience preferred)
  • First Aid/CPR and Forklift trainings are preferred.
  • SQF, Ammonia Fit, Food Safety, Sensory Evaluation, and/or HACCP training and certification are preferred.

Working Conditions:

  • Required to report to work on time: Position may require extended hours, including evenings and weekend.
  • Ability to work in office and warehouse settings.
  • Must be able to multitask and meet deadlines.
  • Ability to work well under difficult situations and pressure.
     

 

Responsibilities & Duties: 
  • The Production Supervisor must accomplish effective results by scheduling and assigning personnel, establishing priorities, monitoring progress, revising schedules, resolving problems and reporting results.
  • Maintains quality service by establishing and enforcing organization standards.
  • Ensures operation of equipment by calling for repairs, evaluating new equipment and techniques.
  • Provide leadership and supervision to plant employees; and will be responsible for disciplining employees who fail to follow proper procedures.
  • Highly encouraged to initiate, coordinate, and enforce systems, policies, and procedures.
  • Maintains work flow by monitoring steps of the production process, personnel and all resources.
  • Must coordinate, supervise, and monitor the daily operations to guarantee they meet production and customers' needs through efficient production and employee scheduling, ordering of materials, and staging of fruit.
  • Required to measure production efficiency and provide communication to supervisors and employees regarding plant performance.
  • Prepare paperwork and reports that will assist with the development of production related budgets and controls to ensure that waste and production costs are minimized.
  • Assist with the maintenance of state and federal logs and forms (GMP, SQF, SOP, OSHA, State Department of Agriculture, USDA, and state/federal regulations).
  • Should meet compliance in auditable areas including, but not limited to: food safety audits, GMP audits, plant inspections.
  • Participate in routine meetings, which may include production meetings, safety, training and development, etc.
