Communicate with vendors daily to source product and gather information on market conditions and trends. Work closely with Sales to understand customer needs and to communicate opportunities to our customers. Provide Sales with market information to share with customers. Collaborate with Quality Control, Transportation and other operational departments as needed to ensure we’re meeting quality and service commitments to our customers.
- Industry related work experience (buying experience preferred).
- Knowledge of a variety commodities, growing regions, quality standards and the variables that impact market trends and pricing.
- FOB buying and truck industry knowledge are also preferred.
- Bachelor’s degree in a related field preferred (ie business, agri-business, food marketing) but not required.
- Minimum high school diploma.
Strong communication skills, negotiation skills, computer skills and problem-solving skills. Must be able to work collaboratively in a team environment.
