Agricultural Supervisor

Job Description: 

Directly supervises and coordinates the activities of agricultural workers, is responsible for year-round inspection of the crop, implements & executes the manager’s plan for agriculture, ensures compliance for agricultural regulations, all while complying with the company’s safety policy and striving to increase production.

Requirements: 
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in the agriculture industry
  • Valid FL driver’s license
  • HS Diploma or GED
  • Pesticide license
  • Good leadership, decision-making, and communication skills
  • Ability to work as part of a team
  • Basic mechanical skills
  • Bilingual Spanish preferred
  • Must be able to lift 50 pounds
Responsibilities & Duties: 
  • Organize and supervise work for employees.  Determine a work schedule for each employee in their respective function.
  • Executes the assignment of duties such as the planting, cultivation, water management, and harvesting of crop to ensure productivity goals are met.
  • Train personnel on how to perform the work required, how to operate applicable equipment, in addition to other duties as required by the company.  Trains workers in planting, harvesting, pest control, insect and disease identification, and in the use of safety measures.
  • Efficiently communicate to farm manager on a daily basis.
  • Maintain knowledge of equipment efficiency and its operation.
  • Ensures all farm equipment is working safely & properly and if not, report it immediately to the shop.
  • Meet personnel vans at designated locations, log in present and absent personnel in timesheets, report and allocate each employee and operation in the proper  cost centers and provide instructions for the day’s activities.  Personnel should depart for field by 6:45 am.
  • Observes workers to spot inefficient and unsafe work procedures, and initiates corrective action if necessary.  Writes disciplinary warnings for non-performing employees as necessary.
  • Responsible for daily tracking of rainfall data, staff gauge readings, and temperatures and report it back to management by 8:00 am.
  • Maintain employees informed of rules & regulations and enforce them.
