Job Description: 

Edinburg Citrus Association (ECA) is a non-profit co-op that provides packing/shipping.  We have over 100 members and continue to grow each year. ECA is the only citrus cooperative in Texas.

We are currently looking to hire a Food Safety Manager to our team.

The Food Safety Manager is responsible for developing and overseeing all of the food safety regulations, policies, and procedures for a midsize produce packaging operation in South Texas. They will conduct food safety audits, as well as manage third party audits. They will also be responsible for overseeing the maintenance and sanitation of the facility and that they comply with the food safety requirements.

Requirements: 
  • Develop and provide training for food safety and quality requirements
  • Develop and maintain documentation, as well as maintenance of manuals, policies and procedures as they relate to any food safety concerns
  • Conduct facility food safety audits, as well as manage third party audits (Primus Audit)
  • Monitor and verify activities to ensure that all products coming in and out of the facility meet food safety standards, in addition to quality standards
  • Update existing food safety procedures and documentation to keep up with changing requirements
  • Work closely with the Operations Manager and/or General Manager on any food safety or quality assurance issues
  • Oversee proper maintenance and sanitation to ensure all facilities comply with food safety requirements
  • Ensure that all company food safety and quality assurance procedures are followed and documented correctly at all times
     
Ideal Candidate: 

The successful candidate will help to develop, implement and enforce security and food safety standards, policies, and programs including HACCP, regulatory audits, food safety training programs, standard operating procedures, product inspections, and standardized work instructions.

Qualifications: 
  • Food safety experience, with management level experience in HACCP, USDA, or FDA is preferred
  • Previous experience with Primus and/or USDA audits desirable
  • Bilingual English/Spanish is preferred, but not necessary
  • Able to work unsupervised and manage independently
  • Have strong communication skills and proficiency in English reading and writing
  • Must be flexible with work hours and days
  • Capable of managing multiple priorities with tight deadlines
  • Detail oriented, and possess strong computer skills
