Job Description:
Monterey County Labor Contractor is currently seeking an experienced Payroll Specialist to complement payroll and office operation in Salinas, California.
Responsibilities & Duties:
- Maintain accuracy in the payroll system and employee files for all deductions.
- Prepare periodic reports of earnings, taxes, and deductions.
- Be able to cover all aspects of payroll processing using payroll software
- Compile payroll data such as hours worked, sales or piecework to calculate gross wages.
- Review time sheets, work charts, wage computation, and reconcile discrepancies
- Prepare paychecks
Qualifications:
- At least 5+ years of direct experience in payroll with piece rate compensation within agriculture setting
- Proficient in spreadsheets (Excel) needed
- Data-tech software knowledge a plus
- Must be bilingual (English/Spanish), and willing to work 40+ hours
- Demonstrate attributes that include but are not limited to being highly motivated, detail oriented, self-starter, work independently, under pressure while managing multiple tasks and deadlines
