We are currently looking for a dynamic individual to join our team as a Seed Production Supervisor in Salinas, CA.
As the Seed Production Supervisor you will be responsible for the production and harvesting of proprietary celery seed crops for the Duda Farm Fresh Foods Research & Development department.
- 1+ years of experience in production/crew work environment.
- PCA accreditation preferred and Qualified Pesticide applicator permit required.
- Able to operate farm equipment.
- Able to work independently and solve scheduling issues on planting and harvest.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills.
- Ability to communicate effectively with all levels of the organization.
- Responsible for production of celery crops; locating appropriate isolations, plant and seed production, transplanting, growing and seed harvest.
- Responsible for production of offsite cages; cage layout, transplanting, cage maintenance, production, harvest, clean up and transportation.
- Responsible for developing and implementing scouting program for insects and disease for seed crops and cages.
- Administer appropriate pest control in order to maintain pest free crops.
- Supervise outside labor crews to ensure that appropriate functions and activities are handled in a timely manner from crop isolation preparation to seed harvest. Ensure the most efficient use of labor to minimize costs.
- Administer all safety programs to provide safe work environment and ensure compliance.
- Provide timely documentation for areas of responsibilities and coordinate activities with research team on a regular basis to include; safety, crops, labor/payroll, organic, scouting and spray reports.
