We have an opportunity for a Produce Category Manager to join a team of passionate people who care about promoting Good Food and practicing sustainable business in a high-growth environment.

As the Produce Category Manager you are responsible for the development and management of the produce assortment, pricing, placement and promotional strategy. You will own the sales, gross margin, and vendor relationships across your category.  You will work closely with marketing, product development, operations, buying and merchandising teams to hit category and company-wide business goals and objectives.

Requirements: 
  • Bachelor’s degree with a specialization in business preferred.
  • 4+ years with relevant work experience.
  • Strong category management and vendor negotiation experience.
  • Attention to detail, financial acumen and analytical skills necessary.
  • Excellent planning, written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to multi-task and work on a variety of projects at the same time. 
  • Team-oriented and demonstrated excellence in direct and cross functional leadership.
  • Passion for food, food trends, health and wellness.
  • Proficient in Excel & PowerPoint.
Responsibilities & Duties: 
  • Full P&L responsibility for produce category.
  • Build and curate a brand-aligned assortment including SKU mix, design and seasonality.
  • Manage the creation of the weekly produce subscription box.
  • Work with vendors to develop sales and promotional plans to meet category goals.
  • Develop and maintain strong vendor partnerships.
  • Establish and manage retail prices and gross profit margins to meet sales and profit targets.
  • Source innovative new products, ideas and promotions.
  • Ongoing data analysis & category reviews.
  • Work closely with produce buying team to manage inventory turns and SKU efficiencies.
  • Collaborate with marketing, product development, produce procurement, and operations on category communication, forecasting and category development.
  • Maintain awareness of competitive assortments, pricing, and promotions.
  • Serve as the subject matter expert in their defined categories.
  • Negotiate direct vendor contracts.
  • Manage and directly supervise Associate Merchant.
