Job Description: 

Coosemans Boston is a Specialty Produce Wholesaler in the New England Produce Center in Chelsea, Massachusetts. For over 30 years, the name Coosemans has been at the forefront of the specialty produce business with locations in over 27 cities. In fact, we were selling specialty produce when many referred to it as "Weird Stuff". Well, much has changed in the past 30 plus years and specialty produce has not only established itself as being viable, but rather, it's downright essential in today's produce world.

Coosemans Boston is currently searching for a Terminal Market Salesman. This individual is self-motivated, professional and experienced with a wide and varied knowledge of produce. Critical thinking and the ability to move quickly in negotiations are essential. Goals for this candidate also include making meaningful long-term relationships with buyers who expect and demand high quality produce.  

Compensation/Salary:

Requirements: 
  • 3-5 years of comparable produce sales experience.
  • Excellent verbal, written and interpersonal skills.
  • A professional "get it done" attitude with the ability to take initiative in areas outside of the defined job scope, including the ability to work autonomously and productively with little intervention.
  • Ability to communicate effectively and maintain inter-department relationships that are critical for success.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and prioritize work.
  • Demonstrates flexibility and fluidity with merchants and buyers.
  • Ability to work in a dynamic, energized workplace.
  • Must be able to lift up to 50+ pounds.

Hours & Workdays:

Shifts are 3am to Noon, Monday through Friday, when business requires overtime and some Saturdays will be mandatory.

 

Responsibilities & Duties: 
  • Knowledge of current market conditions to optimize market swings and fluctuations.
  • Receive and analyze market data and studies.  
  • Move produce inventory with optimum pricing.
  • Work to predict future trends and needs.
  • Ensure that our retailers and food service providers obtain the best in customer service.
  • Monitor and understand competitors, market conditions and product development opportunities.
  • Proficiently enter orders, make changes and adjustments, create sales reports and print invoices from the company’s software program.
  • Moving inventory quickly and efficiently to avoid and minimize loss.
  • Perform weekly/monthly reporting as required to support the business needs.
  • Responsible for the creation, revision, and the communication of the trending forecasts.
  • Develops sales, cost budgets, and targets in alignment with the sales strategy.
