Job Description: 

Reports directly and coordinates with the Maintenance Supervisor on major projects, technical support and purchases. Performs inspections, troubleshoots and directs repairs as needed.  Perform repairs when necessary. Direct overhauls on machinery and hands on direction of major installations when necessary. Perform in-house electrical repairs/installations, including PLC’s, VFD’s, plumbing and welding or other tasks. May be responsible for managing department employees to include job assignments, and overseeing of compliance with various safety regulations and practices. May conduct tailgate meetings and provides safety training to employees in the department.

Responsibilities & Duties: 
  • Assists in managing the maintenance department and servicing of packing house equipment in order to maintain safe, efficient operations.
  • Assists maintenance department employees to respond to, troubleshoot and repair breakdowns
  • Monitor and insure Preventive Maintenance schedule is followed
  • Trains and supervises department employees to perform assigned tasks safely and efficiently. 
  • Install and repair wiring electrical fixtures, power equipment, and components of machinery and equipment following electrical code, manuals, specifications, schematics and blueprints.
  • Assists in determination of necessary components, ordering from vendors and distributing said materials, parts, and supplies to employees. 
  • Poses a high level of electro/mechanical knowledge and abilities.
  • Ability to program and troubleshoot VFD’s, troubleshoot control circuits.
  • Knowledge of and ability to work with hydraulics, steam, compressed air, electrical systems, refrigeration, plumbing, concrete and mechanical systems within the packing house.                
  • Able to delegate, schedule and prioritize jobs and supervise subordinates to accomplish tasks.
  • Able to communicate both verbally, electronically, and by written reports and keep records.
