Premier New York metropolitan area wholesale distributor has an exciting sales opportunity for an experienced FOB Sales Manager. We are a full service, year-round produce business, looking to add new talent to our team. As a FOB Sales Manager, you will be responsible for actively and aggressively developing new business with new customers within the North East region of the US and expanding business with new product opportunities with our existing customers.  You will also be responsible for developing a strategic plan with management for aggressive growth, customer development, and product extensions.

The best candidate for this position will be a dynamic, goal driven individual with a working knowledge of the entire scope of the produce industry, yet also have specific FOB sales/ commodity management/ brokerage knowledge and experience.  The candidate needs to possess good people skills, be able to monitor markets for multiple commodity groups simultaneously and seamlessly mesh with an experienced buying/selling team and customer base.

The ideal candidate will also possess strong analytical and communications skills with a willingness contribute to this growing organization. Requirements: 
  • 15 years of comparable produce sales experience.
  • Excellent communication, analytical, organizational and interpersonal skills.
  • A professional attitude with the aptitude to take initiative in areas outside of the defined job scope, including the ability to work independently and efficiently with minimal supervision.
  • Ability to establish and maintain relationships that are critical for success.
  • Capable of managing multiple tasks and prioritizing work.
  • Exhibits flexibility with merchants and buyers.
  • Self-starter with a produce sales background
  • Demonstrates passion and determination to work hard and meet or exceed goals.
  • Ability to analyze complex and changing market factors, evaluate alternative sales practices, and recommend or implement effective courses of action.
  • Knowledge of industry guidelines
  • Ability to recognize opportunities for business expansion within key customers.
  • Understanding of the fresh produce supply-chain; annual supply/pricing dynamics, business operations, sales contract negotiation, distribution logistics, quality management and claims processing.
  • Good computer skills, including MS Office proficiency and familiarity with Produce Pro software.
Responsibilities & Duties: 
  • Expanding of business to regional retailers and major foodservice distributors by offering brokered direct drop shipments from corporate vendors.
  • Move existing inventory with optimum pricing.
  • Awareness of current market trends to enhance market fluctuations.
  • Collect and assess market data and studies.  
  • Forecast future trends and needs.
  • Ensure customer service.
  • Identify and monitor competitors, market conditions and product development opportunities.
  • Proficiently enter orders, make adjustments, generate sales reports and invoices
  • Perform weekly/monthly reporting to support the business needs.
  • Create, revise, and the communicate trending forecasts.
  • Develop sales, cost budgets, and targets in alignment with the sales strategy.
